My old 1Password has quit working since I installed El Capitan OS on my Mac. Shuts down.
The key symbol no longer appears when accessing websites. 1Password shuts down unexpectedly. Will not allow me to make changes to passwords, user names, notes, etc. Have had trouble since installing El Capitan OS. My 1Password is older - 2012 or earlier. Am happy to purchase a new 1Password (depending on cost, of course) if it will work with El Capitan OS.
1Password Version: 3.8.22
Extension Version: none
OS Version: 10.11.2 OS El Capitan
Sync Type: not iCloud, I think

Hi @SusanPCoram,
Thanks for seeking help here in the forums. I'm very sorry about the troubles you are having. You mentioned your copy of 1Password is older. I presume it is version 3.8.22? If so, that version was retired some time ago and El Capitan did indeed change enough in OS X to start causing some issues with it.
The good news is we have a brand new (as of last week!) version 6 that is right at home on El Capitan. You can get 1Password 6 at a terrific price right here. Note that once you have the 1Password 6 app installed and you data has been detected and moved into it during setup, you will want to switch to the new browser extensions that 1Password 6 uses.
If you run into any difficulty, don't hesitate to post a reply here.

Thank you Chrisdj. Did as you suggested and purchased and downloaded 1Password 6. However, I cannot get it to open. I created a vault and Knox is in my dock, but will not open. Please help!

I am running 10.11.4 Beta (15E27e) and have 1password 6.01 Whenever I try to open it it hangs. When the app store tried to update it a week or so ago I got a message that the update failed and to download it from the app store again. I did that. I still get a hang.

@SusanPCoram That's very strange. Could you follow this guide to get things upgraded?
How do I upgrade 1Password for Mac from version 3?
Let me know if that helps sort things out. Also, you mention Knox, which isn't quite the same as 1Password. Are you having trouble with that as well or is it a separate issue?
@russgum Sorry to hear that. Do you have any additional copies of 1Password on your vault or is that the only one? This knowledge base article has some info on removing additional copies and I highly recommend giving it a quick read:
How to remove multiple, conflicting copies of 1Password from your system
If you have removed additional copies and are still having issues, could you please create a Diagnostics Report from your Mac? That will give us a better idea of what the issue may be.
Attach the Diagnostics Report to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.
Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.
Once you send the email, post back here with the BitBot confirmation number you receive a few minutes after sending. That will help us connect the dots. :)
