Esiest way to fix a failing auto-login (iPhone) that worked until I changed (generated) password?
I use 1Password on iPhone 6s plus (iOS), and have latest updates on both. I auto-login to Wells Fargo bank account with my 1PW-generated password often, using iPhone+1PW login link. Today I decided it's time to change bank password, so I ...
- generated a new password with 1PW
- entered it manually (twice) on bank website in Change-PW page, using Windows laptop and Chrome browser
- saved new password in 1PW and tried the 1PW logon link
It fails (see attachment). If I copy-paste the new PW, using 1PW login page (press+COPY password), then PASTE it into the logon page using 1PW, it works. In other words, the password being auto-sent is wrong, but the password in my 1PW login for the bank is right.
WTF?
Please don't tell me to delete and re-create the 1PW bank login, it contains many Notes and other details.

Hi @zebulon22,
Thanks so much for taking the time to write in. I am really sorry to gear that you are experiencing issues filling in your credentials using the 1Password extension.
If I correctly understood your issue, you can successfly login if you copy/paste your password in 1Browser, but not if you tap on the 1Password Login's website link. If that's the case, let's try the following steps to we can better pinpoint the cause of this issue.
What happens if you try to fill in your credentials using the key icon? Does it work?
- Tap on the key icon at the right hand-side of the share icon.
- Choose the Wells Fargo login in question
- Tap on the "Sign On" button on the web page
How about filling in Safari using the extension?
- Open Safari and go to the Wells Fargo login page
- Tap on the share icon and choose the 1Password extension.
- Unlock 1Password if prompted
- Choose the Wells Fargo login in question
- Tap on the "Sign On" button on the web page
I look forward to your reply
All the best,

Both methods fail with the same error.
Only successful method — copy-pasting the new password from 1Password login details into the WF login screen.
It seems 1PW has the correct password, but isn't transmitting it properly.

Hi @zebulon22
When you tap the URL to load the page, it should load the page and then fill the username and password. Are both of those boxes filled in before you tap the Sign On button?
Also, if you view the item in the vault mode (where you can see the username and password) there is a section near the bottom of the item that's called "Saved form details"
If you look at that section, do you see the username and password only? Or are there other fields, including one that might show the old password?

Yes, both fields are pre-filled
"Previously Used Passwords" shows my password history (never knew about this, thx), starting with yesterday's most recent old password.
Should I rebuild this logon from scratch?

Hi @zebulon22,
Thanks for responding so quickly.
- Yes, both fields are pre-filled
You mean the "Saved form details" fields? If so, is the password from the "Saved form details" field the same as the login password (the one you are copy/pasting)?
Thank you!

Not the "saved form"... The two pre-filled fields I thought you meant are Wells Fargo's userid & password (masked).
Even though I can't see the WF password I'm sure it's pre-filled wrong, because when I erase it and paste the new password, I'm in.

UPDATE
Autologon feature after a password change is a frustrating, hi-maintenance mess, I built a new WellsFargo-2 login from scratch, and it behaves exactly the same — auto login fails, password copy+paste succeeds. Tried clearing 1PW cookies and tried multiple browsers in 1PW Settings, always same result — copy/paste from 1PW works, auto login (masked) password fails.Consider this a BUG REPORT.
