Sync additional vault over WiFi

Hey,

First off, thanks for 1Password! Awesome piece of software on all platforms. :-)

Now, I use 1Password both privately and professionally. For my private vault I use Dropbox, for the office one we don't do cloud syncing but rather has a server in the office for obvious reasons. I would like my private vault to be the primary syncing over Dropbox and my office to be the secondary syncing over WiFi with the office laptop.

Alternatively I could sync my personal vault to my office Dropbox account and sync everything over WiFi, but I'm a part time employee, so my iPhone's vault would be out of date most of the time...

Are there any plans for this? I glossed over some topics from 2013.

welcome to the 1Password forum :)

Currently it is not possible to sync secondary vaults with wifi unless the primary vault is synced with wifi as well. I am pretty sure this will not change.

I would suggest to sync your work vault using wifi as a primary vault and your private vault via Dropbox as secondary. I would then set the vault for saving to your private vault (Settings > Vaults > All Vaults > Vault for Saving) and maybe exclude the work vault from All Vaults. That way you are using your private vault as if it was your primary one.

Would that work for you?

Thank you for your quick answer and helpful information. However, it prompts me for my office vault's password now, which is way more difficult than my own. Is there a way around that?

@mldb are you using any sort of quick unlock method like TouchID or the PIN? That would make this easier. That way you'd only have to enter the master password after restarting the device.

The only other method I can think off is to resetup your works 1Password with a different primary vault (not your personal vault) and your work vault as a secondary vault. That way you can decide what the master password should be. The only downside is that you'd have to sync yet another vault to your phone and you'd a bit of work to resetup everything.

Let me know if that is a solution you want to go with and you need instructions for setting this up.

Hi @Winnie,

Thanks again for your answer. I already have some experience with setting up 1Password anew (the 100% CPU bug a while ago), so I am fine with that. :-)
As for the extra vault, no problem there as well, since 1Password searches and shows all entries now (and they're easy to switch on both mobile and desktop). I'll take it!
