Dropbox Sync Vault Mismatch between IOS7 and newer releases - 0 items

I just set up Dropbox sync for the first time and it works between my imac, laptop, and ipad, all with the latest OS versions. My iphone4 is stuck at ios7 and it logs into dropbox and shows a mismatch. It shows my vault with 178 items (which is not true, it is 157) and then it shows the Dropbox Vault with 0 items. I chose not to merge anyway. Is there a version compatibility issue with 1Password on ios7 or something else gone wrong here?

    Hi @efudd,

thanks for taking the time to report this. Does your 1Password file in Dropbox has the ending opvault or agilekeychain? Older versions of 1Password for iOS could not read out the number of items in an opvault and simply showed 0 items. I suspect this is the case for what you are seeing.

Regarding the discrepancy of number of items in your local vault I wonder if you maybe have some items in the trash which we counted as well.

    Hope that helps.

Yes, the file has the opvault extension. I noticed when I was doing syncing on a local network drive earlier (very buggy, the reason I went to dropbox) that it was an agilekeychain, but now when I configured dropbox it is an opvault file. So, is it just the number of items that is wrong and I can still do the merge successfully or will my older version of 1password not merge/sync over dropbox with an opvault file and I can only sync my phone with the manual wifi sync?

As for the discrepancy, I'm not sure. I typically don't edit 1password entries on my iphone, it just gets synced up to my main computer, and I've never had 178 items anywhere. So your explanation seems doubtful.

  • Hi @efudd,

To get a better idea of what may be going on 'under the hood,' I'd like to ask you to create some Diagnostics Reports, one from each of your devices.

    —Mac—
    https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/mac.html

    —iOS—
    https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/ios.html

Attach the Diagnostics Reports to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Reports in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Reports in our inbox.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can track down the reports and ensure that this is dealt with quickly. :)

Once we see the reports we should be able to better assist you. Thanks very much!

Greig helped me and it worked! Thanks everybody. I simply had to switch to NOT use OpVault (on all computers in the house), which is a check I don't recall setting, but must have been default in the last upgrade. His instructions were as follows and should be helpful to others with the same problem:

It looks like you have setup 1Password for Mac to use our new OPVault sync file which unfortunately isn't supported in the older 1Password 4 for iOS.

To fix this all we need to do is revert back to AgileKeychain by following these instructions:

On the Mac, open 1Password for Mac, and click the 1Password menu, then Preferences. Click Sync, and use the dropdown menu to change the selection to "none" to disable syncing.
Check the box to remove the data from Dropbox and confirm that you want to disable sync.
Click Help > Tools > Enable OpVault for Dropbox and Folder sync and make sure it is off.
Reboot the Mac and iOS devices.
Check your Dropbox folder and delete any other 1Password folders or files that the remove data checkbox did not take care of.
On the Mac, go back to the Sync preferences, and click Dropbox. Click Choose vault, then navigate to your Dropbox folder and select Open. This will regenerate a 1Password folder in Dropbox, and that will contain a new 1Password.agilekeychain file.
    Allow Dropbox to fully sync.
Go back into the iOS app and re-enable Dropbox sync. That should get everything on the same page for sure.

Excellent! Thanks for the update. On behalf of Greig, you are most welcome! I'm glad to hear that did the trick. It sounds like you should be all set, but don't hesitate to reach out if we can be of further assistance. We're always here to help! :)
