Best way to set up my wifes iPad

Our situation is as follows. My wife and I share the same user on the iMac. I have a MacBook Pro which she doesn't use. She has an iPad which I don't use.

So we want to set things up so that she can work on the iMac and iPad and I can work on the iMac and MBP. I have already set things up on iMac and MBP to sync via iCloud and that all seems OK.

She can't use iCloud for syncing as she has her own iCloud and with it an iCloud drive of her own and 1Password can only sync via the one iCloud. It seems to me the best bet is for her to have her own vault on the iMac which can then be synced via wifi. That would operate independently of the primary vault syncing via iCloud. Does that sound reasonable?

If so a couple of questions. One or two logins are common to both of us. How do we transfer or copy items from one vault to another (import/export)? Will both types of syncing occur automatically or do we have to take action to initiate them?

I hope that makes sense! We are looking for the most seamless and automatic way of operating.

1Password Version: 6.1 for Mac & latest ios version
Extension Version: firefox & Safari
OS Version: OS X 10.11.3 &ios9
Sync Type: That's the question!

Thanks for taking the time to write in!

We are looking for the most seamless and automatic way of operating.

If you are indeed looking for the easiest and most automatic way to accomplish this then 1Password for Families is the answer. The way I would recommend setting this up would be to create a 1Password for Families "Family" with accounts for each yourself and your wife. I believe at present you would need to have separate user accounts on the Mac, so that is a bit of a bump in the road perhaps, but it checks all of your other boxes.

You'd each have your own personal vault, which the other person does not have access to, and then you would have a shared vault in which you can store your shared credentials. You would sign into your account on your devices, her on her's, and both of you would sign in on the Mac (under separate OS X user accounts).

Sharing items is as simple as selecting the Item > Share menu in 1Password for Mac, selecting the Shared vault, and selecting Move. This is applicable whether you use 1Password for Families, or the standalone products with non-AgileBits sync methods.

We currently have an early adopter special running that gives you an extra two months of service, an extra GB of data, and the ability to invite up to two additional family members for the base price:

Unfortunately your proposed solution will not work, if I understand your requirements correctly. One of the constraints of WiFi sync is that it also has to sync the Primary vault, in addition to (optionally) any secondary vaults. So your wife would end up with your primary vault as her primary vault on her iPad.

You could possibly achieve this by having three vaults, synced via Dropbox: your vault, her vault, and a 3rd vault for shared items. These could all exist in the same Dropbox account (assuming you do not already have a Dropbox setup to take into consideration). All of the devices would sign into the same Dropbox account then and you'd add whichever vaults were appropriate to each device.

I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.
