Wi-Fi Sync "socket is not connected"

This is my first sync with a (new) iPhone. After setup and beginning sync, I get only "Sync Problem. The operation couldn't be completed. Socket is not connected." How might I resolve this unconnected socket issue?

1Password Version: 6.1
Extension Version: 4.5.3
OS Version: OS X 10.11.13
Sync Type: Wi-Fi
Referrer: kb-search:import Primary Vault from MacBook Air to my iPhone, kb:sync-options

    @jeanne_mazzoni: Sorry for the trouble! It sounds like there me a problem with the network interface there — likely on the device itself. Please follow the steps in this guide to make sure everything is setup properly so that 1Password can connect:
