Maximum length of Master Password?

I changed my 1P master password to a 25 character password. 1P accepted this new password. When I went to open 1P with this new password it would only allow me to enter 20 characters in the vault's password field. Since I could not enter all 25 characters I could not open my vault. Why does 1P preferences allow and accept a new password that is longer than the password field will allow?

@RV Gypsy - just keep typing your full 25 character master password. Even though the number of astrisks stops increasing, the app is still accepting your input. You're just seeing a cosmetic illusion because the asterisks all look the same spatter they obscure the characters they represent.

    Hello @RV Gypsy,

I hope you don't mind, I've changed the title of your thread as you probably didn't mean to use your email address.

hawkmoth is correct, while it might seem like it isn't accepting more characters it is. My Master Password has been near 30 characters long for as long as I can remember now and I've never had any troubles with it on either 1Password for Mac or iOS. I believe others have longer. Do you find you have more success now you know it's just the UI not being as obvious as it could be?

Thanks for the help - yes, now I see that passwords longer than appear to be accepted do indeed work.

    Greetings @RV Gypsy,

Glad to hear you can still access your vault and sorry about the scare!
