My Mac HDD and Time Machine HDD are dead .. can I migrate my iOS DB on my iPhone to the Mac?
My Mac HDD crashed; then my Time Machine HDD suddenly died. Can I migrate my iPhone DB to the Mac and make it the master? Or is there a better way to go? Can I sync my iPhone DB to the Mac (the Mac has no DB as all the content is on my iPhone ...
Thanks so much.

Hi @din209,
I hope hawkmoth's suggestion was helpful! Basically, you just need to set up one of the sync options in 1Password on your iPhone, and then use that same sync option when setting up 1Password on your Mac. The following section of our user guide should help:
Use existing 1Password data on a new computer
Hopefully this helps, but please let us know if you have any trouble with that. Cheers! :)

I had to replace my mac's HDD and as luck would have it, my TimeMachine backup drive also failed. I reinstalled 1Password on Mac and am trying to get my iPhone's DB synced over to Mac. Have followed directions (had a previous post), but get the error msg stating that Attempted to sync with a different vault than originally configured. Instruction screens show a RED "Delete... box' which does not show on my iPhone to reset the Sync function(?). So am a bit lost here.
Thanks, Dave1Password Version: 6.1 on Mac

Hi @din209,
I'm very sorry to hear your Mac's HDD and your Time Machine backup drive both failed at the same time! That's definitely an unfortunate coincidence. :( It sounds like this is a continuation of the discussion you started a few days ago, so I've merged them together into the same thread to avoid confusion. And since it sounds like you're having trouble setting up a sync option on your iPhone, I've moved this thread to our iOS forum. I hope you don't mind!
I'm sure we can help sync your 1Password data from your iPhone to your Mac, but we'll just need to know a few more details first:
- What exact version of 1Password is installed on your iPhone?
- Which sync option are you trying to set up in 1Password on your iPhone (Dropbox, iCloud, Wi-Fi Sync)?
- What are the exact steps you're taking on the iPhone, and at what point do you get the error message you mentioned? (If you happen to have a link to the page where you're seeing a screenshot that doesn't match your iPhone, that will be helpful for us.)
Once we have a better idea where you're running into a problem and what you're seeing, we should be able to help you to get things working properly. Thanks! :)

I'm having similar issue. I have always updated my vault on the iMac and then used Wi-Fi Synch to keep my iPhone vault current. But an iMac upgrade to El Capitan failed, and forced me to wipe the hard drive and do a clean install. And though I had a Time Machine backup, I am having "permissions" issues being able to access the Containers folder, so at this point, restoring a 1Password backup is not available to me.
I reinstalled a 6.1 version to my iMac from the App store. The 1Password version on my IOS version is 6.3.1. So I created a new vault on the iMac, using the same master P/W. I went into iMac 1Password preference screen and set up the Wi_Fi server. On my iPhone, I went to Wi-Fi synch and keyed in the "secret code", and tried to sync. But that generated an error message -- "Sync Problem -Attempted to sync with a different vault than originally configured". The "more info" button revealed an error code of 7027.
I found instructions on your site in and article entitled "Wi-Fi Sync error 7027:... ". Option 1 to "reconfigure Wi-Fi Sync" seemed my best choice, except that the method shown to "disable sync" is not appearing on my app. Option 2 would be a problem, as I am still having iMac issues, and iTunes is unavailable to use to store a backup of my 1Password. So deleting it and reinstalling from App Store is not available to me at this time.
Is there a secret method to disable sync for the 6.3.1 version? I've poked around and am not finding it.

@lrharrisonnc: Sorry for the confusion! That article was for a very specific error in an older version of 1Password. I'm not sure why iTunes wouldn't work (it should be available on any Mac, and since your data is encrypted doing this on a friend's would be just fine too), but in 1Password, just go to Settings > Sync > (vault name) > Sync Service > Disable Sync. Then you can setup sync from scratch. I hope this helps. Please let me know how it turns out! :)

Your instructions are very clear, as was the user guide. Unfortunately, when I go to Settings > Sync > Primary (vault), there is no Sync Service to select. I only have Set Up Syncing > Start Syncing > (which then lets me choose a sync method). When I pick Sync using Wi-Fi, it shows my iMac name (or Refresh List). Picking my iMac, takes me to the Secret code entry, with Sync Now my only option. Thats when the Sync Problem pop-up error occurs (7027). I'm never given the Sync Service > Disable Sync option. I'm obviously missing something.
I'll be working on iTunes later on. Somehow when restoring selected folders from Time Machine to recover my wiped HD, there was a discrepancy in the old/new user accounts and I've just not gotten the permissions issues all resolved. Certainly, if I get that resolved first, I can save a 1Password backup and then sync using iCloud. But these issues are only 2 of 8 that I'm trying to rectify on my iMac. Moral of the story ... don't have a hardware glitch occur during an El Capitan upgrade ;-)

@lrharrisonnc: Ah, I understand. I don't think it's you at all. If sync is already disabled (it's giving you the option to set it up), you shouldn't have the option to disable it.

Oh, perhaps that could be related. What a headache! I do have one "secret" thing you can try from the 1Password end that might help: Restart both your Mac and iPhone, and in 1Password for Mac Preferences > Wi-Fi Server, right-click the "secret" shown there and generate a new one. See if that will allow you to setup sync finally in 1Password for iOS!

Wow. No kidding! I'm sorry that you've had to go through all of that! Hopefully you'll be back up-and-running soon. Let me know how it tuns out!

I tried your suggestion, restarting both Mac and iPhone, and generating a new secret code. Same error. It may not be the cause of my 1Password problem, but this permissions snafu is causing a lot of other symptoms for me. So I'll go address that with Apple support and re-visit this issue later. Thanks for your responses!

Flash update! I was able to pull a recent pre-crash .zip backup file from Time Machine and then Restore it to my iMac. Not only did I get my iMac working again, but my iPhone sync now works!
Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but the iMac backup file had been created with an earlier version of 1Password (possibly 5.n.n vintage). Since I had to re-install the latest version of 1Password, was it OK to have used an older version backup ??

Yes. 1Password 4, 5, and 6 use the same keychain format (when using Agile Keychain), so there is no difficulty with that. :) Glad to hear you got everything working!

Sorry I have been away, Drew_Ag:
1. iPhone version is:6.3.1
2. Mac OS X is El Capitan, 10.11.4
3. Did Sync per instructions but am getting the 7027 error, so I powered both systems down tried again with same result.
4. Clicked on the 7027 article in your initial response, but the page doesn't open:Should I delete and re-install 1Password on Mac?
Appreciate the help.0 -
Hi @din209,
I don't think reinstalling 1Password for Mac will help at all. What I would recommend:
- Backup your 1Password data on iOS: https://support.1password.com/ios-itunes-backups/
- Start over on iOS: https://support.1password.com/starting-over/ios.html
- Restore your backup: https://support.1password.com/ios-itunes-backups/#restoring-manual-backups
- Sync your iOS device with your Mac: https://support.1password.com/guides/ios/syncing.html
I hope that helps!
