Trial expired notification with Mac app
I purchased 1Password from the Mac store and downloaded the app from the store in the first place. But still it says my free trial period expired. So I downloaded it again from the app store. But still opening this newly downloaded apps gives me the notice 'trial expired'.
I didn't throw away the older download yet afraid I will lose all the data stored in my current password vault. Please help!
Must say this feels like unnecessary time and energy having bought the app for 50 euros it should just work properly.
Best

Hey there @dewi,
I'm sorry you are having this issue, but I think I can help you with this. :chuffed:
So when you say the Mac store, do you mean the Apple Mac App Store or the AgileBits web store? You should not get any trial notification or prompt if you are running the Apple Mac App Store version of 1Password and bought the app through Apple. This version of the app would be called "1Password"
If you purchased the license through the AgileBits web store you should have received emails from AgileBits and a license file. You can only apply that file to the version of 1Password downloaded from the AgileBits website. https://agilebits.com/downloads This version of the app would be called "1Password 6"
You should remove any copy of 1Password that you don't need. There could be problems if you have multiple copies of 1Password installed. For example, by your description it sounds as if you installed the AgileBits webstore version of 1Password ("1Password 6") and then bought it through the Apple App Store ("1Password") but you launch the webstore version by accident so you get the trial prompt. So you should go to the finder and search for 1Password and see how many 1Password applications you have on your system.
Please do not worry about losing your 1Password data by removing copies of the 1Password application. They do not contain your 1Password data and are only the application code and other resources. Just do not remove anything other than copies of the 1Password application and you should be fine.

I purchased 1Password from the Apple Mac App Store (version 4.4.2 in October 2014, on a different computer) and have downloaded it from the App Store to a new machine. It has been fine for over a month, but now I am getting the "Trial expired. Click here to buy." notification. I do not have multiple versions installed. Please advise. Thanks.

I do not have multiple versions installed.
You either do have multiple versions installed or you purchased from the AgileBits store and not the Mac App Store. The Mac App Store version of 1Password will never give you the trial expired warning because all licensing is dealt with invisibly by the Mac App Store.
I suggest you do this:
- When you get the "trial expired" warning go to 1Password > About 1Password and see exactly what it says there. No doubt it will indicate you are using the AgileBits store version.
- Do a Spotlight search for 1Password and see what it reveals. It should tell you whether you have more than one version of 1Password on your Mac (or on any disk permanently attached to your Mac, which is also indexed by Spotlight).
Generally, this knowledge base article will help you:
“Trial Expired” notice (Mac)

My apologies. It turns out that I indeed had apparently downloaded from the website rather than the App Store. I guess I didn't realize until yesterday that there are two "versions". In any case, I deleted the website version and downloaded from the App Store and everything is working fine. Thank you all for the quick response and support!
