The Firefox extension (4.5.5) encountered an issue while loading.
I installed and enabled the Mozilla Firefox 1Password (4.5.5) extension, after setting up my 1Password Windows 10 app. The installation process worked quickly and without any issues. However, when I click on the extension icon on my toolbar, Firefox loads an error page in a new tab. The page reads: "The address wasn't understood. Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (onepassword4-extension) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context. You might need to install other software to open this address." I have uninstalled and reinstalled the extension, manually installed the extension, and restarted my computer many times. This hasn't helped. The Windows 10 app works well: I am able to login and manage my information without any issues. Finally, I tried the same extension installation process in Chrome, to much the same result as in Firefox. The extension couldn't run properly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@DavidHawkins: Sorry for the confusion! The 1Password for Windows beta app cannot communicate with browser extensions. That's something only the 1Password for Windows desktop app (which does not yet support 1Password for Families) is able to do. The beta does however, have a built-in browser you can use. Just click the "globe" icon when viewing an item. I hope this helps! :)

@brenty : When will the Windows desktop app support 1Password for Families?

@DavidHawkins: I don't have a release date to give you, but we're working on it. :)

@brenty , the browser extension is the feature that I desire most... 1Password for Families must not be for me. What is my best option for a family of five? Does the 1Password Teams support the browser extension?

@DavidHawkins: Indeed, it's incredibly useful. We're anxious to have a new version of the 1Password for Windows desktop app out. It supports the browser extensions, but 1Password Families support isn't available in it yet.

1Password Families sounds like it really would be a good fit for you, once the new Windows app is available. It may seem counterintuitive, but the best thing to do would be to sign up now:
1Password for Families
First, you'll get the early adopter bonuses, some of which are forever (2 additional members, and extra storage). Next, if you do subscribe you'll have access to all of the apps, so that even if you're not storing data in 1Password Families vaults you won't have to buy any licenses. Finally, you'll be among the first to know when we send out a newsletter announcing the availability of the new Windows app.
I'm in the same boat myself, and I'm syncing some vaults using Dropbox to share them. Let me know if you want any help setting something like that up for your own family. :)

Hi @brenty
Thanks for sharing this useful information. I signed up for the families account (started with a team account and transferred it afterwards), so I hope to get the news when they're spread. :)
I'm coming back from LastPass, changed to them 3 years back, when you didn't support Windows Mobile devices as I was looking for and also the latest Windows builds. This changed now, as I still followed your progress, and I'm very happy to be back with you guys, since I really love your app and the multi platform usage. Now, synching with OneDrive works like a charm, and you have this family vault, which is awesome and I plan to use with my family, though I'll probably wait until full browser support is integrated, since this is the killer feature for my kids (and myself, but I can live with the workaround :pirate: ).
Keep up the good work, and let me know if you need some beta testers, happy to provide feedback! ;)
Regards
