I am upgrading to MacOS 10.11.3 on my Mac Mini and installing 1Password 5 or 6. Does 1PWD 5 or 6 still sync using DropBox with my MacBook running 1PWD 3.8 under MacOS 10.6.8?

1Password Version: 5 or 6, and 3.8
Extension Version: 5 or 6 with 3.8 or 3.9
OS Version: 10.11.3 and 10.6.8
Sync Type: DropBox

    Hi @WorldMan,

Thanks for contacting us with your question! I'm glad to hear you'll be upgrading to El Capitan and 1Password 6 on your Mac Mini.

Yes, 1Password 6 (as well as 4 and 5) can sync with 1Password 3 via Dropbox. If 1Password 3 on your MacBook is already syncing with Dropbox, it's very easy to set that up in 1Password 6 - just choose to sync your vault from Dropbox during the setup procedure the first time you open it. We have more information in our user guide here: Use existing 1Password data on a new computer

Hopefully that answers your questions, but please let us know if you need anything else. We're always happy to help! :)

Next question: If I have an activation key for 1Password 5, is it valid for 1Password 6? I have not installed or used 1P 5 on my mac. But when I last looked at the download link, it downloaded 1P 6. So I have both versions and I have only paid for version 5. I got 1P 5 as a bonus app from Parallels 10 bundle last year sometime.

    Hi @WorldMan,

If you have a license for 1Password 5 for Mac, 1Password 6 is definitely a free upgrade. They both use the same license file for activation, as does 1Password 4 for Mac. If you need any help to add your license to 1Password 6, we have information in this knowledgebase article: How do I add my license to 1Password?

We're here for you if you need anything else. Cheers! :)
