Thanks for your suggestion @ronen! Extension updates are actually handled by Safari (or by whichever browser is being used), so I'm not sure there's any way for us to notify you when that happens - it's something Safari would need to let you know about. But it's not really something you should need to worry about - if you see a copy of the 1Password extension (or any other Safari extension) in the Trash, you can just look at the list of extensions in Safari to make sure it's still listed there. If it is, the one in the Trash is just an older version that has been replaced.
If you need anything else, just let us know. Have a great weekend! :)

Thanks.
My post came after "a new file added to my trash without any action by me" ...
I am very vigilant ( that is the translated word suggestion result  ) about my OS X behave ...0 -
I fully understand now , Thank you.

Same happened with me when it Updated - but that is the only time Safari sent an Extension to the Trash for me when it updated. I do have Automatically Update Extensions. I have never seen any other Extensions moved to Trash on Update all these years. Sorry, but it must be a !PW thing. I have a lot of Extensions and it has never been done before on my computers.

Unfortunately as mentioned previously, neither the 1Password app nor the extension has any control over the browser itself. You'll note that 1Password can't even install the extension for you: you need to download it into the browser manually. This is part of their security model, since — while you may want 1Password to install into your browser automatically — it would be bad if something malicious could install extensions in your browser without your consent.
Just a hunch since it isn't something we have insight into as a 3rd party developer, but extensions installed from Apple's Safari Extension Gallery will be updated in the background automatically, so that may be the source of the confusion.

To make it simple :
Up to now , No past extension updates had any Trash "involvement" ...
Anyway , I see the Picture ...

Apple changed how Safari handles extensions in Safari 9. From Safari 9 only extensions installed from their own Safari Extension Gallery will automatically update and how it handles extensions that didn't come from the Safari Extension Gallery has changed from how Safari once behaved. It means the above behaviour is quite easy to reproduce.
- I cleared my Trash to make it easier to watch what was happening.
- I installed the stable version of the 1Password Safari Extension into a clean copy of Safari. I used our 1Password Browser Extensions to acquire the extension.
- Safari asked if I wanted to installed the Developer version or the Safari Extension Gallery version. I told Safari to install the Developer version.
- After telling Safari to trust the extension Safari deleted it, sending that copy to the Trash and then installed the Safari Extension Gallery version instead.
As there is a delay between us releasing a new version of the 1Password Safari Extension and the newer version being available in the Safari Extension Gallery it is quite possible for users downloading the 1Password Safari Extension from our site to not be asked if they want to download from the Safari Extension Gallery, the prompt only happens if the version in the Safari Extension Gallery is equivalent or newer. So for example we were up to version 4.5.5 but for a while the version in the Safari Extension Gallery was still at 4.5.3. Anybody that downloaded version 4.5.4 or 4.5.5 in that period from our site would have been asked if they trust the extension and it would have installed. When the Safari Extension Gallery eventually updated the above behaviour would happen automatically.
I suppose one option would be for us to not offer the stable version of the 1Password Safari Extension from our site and instead redirect people to our page in the Safari Extension Gallery and it might be something we'll do. Our system is based on a pre-Safari 9 setup which we've continued using.
Once you've got the 1Password Safari Extension (Safari Extension Gallery version) installed I would say you won't see this happen again but it's hard to say with 100% confidence as there is no easy way to test - only the latest version of the extension is available in the Safari Extension Gallery and no copy of Safari lasts long enough on any of my machines to test.

Indeed. It certainly isn't behaviour I've seen frequently, but in the case of Safari, only Apple will know why. Cheers! :)

Thanks for explaining. That makes perfect sense.

Hi @justme12,
Glad I could help  Nobody likes surprises when it comes to their computers and files, especially anything related to a security product of any kind so I do understand
