APPLE MAC
MACS x2 , iPhone , iPad , all synced. osx 10.11.3
using i password 6.1 syncing all devices
I have duplicates logins in my master password vault
1 is primary login
1 is password login
can i delete the 1 password login duplicate without affecting my iPhone or iPad or other mac password accounts ?
its a mess and needs tidying up .
Also many old logins & passwords in vault . It is now Confusing knowing which login & password is now valid and which ones are invalid & no longer in use .
I thought one password would update my logins & not keep the old login file or generate a new one. Is this from my other devices ? e.g..
I have 6 google accounts logins & passwords , 5 Facebook log in and passwords some with different email addresses .
many conflicting passwords too in vulnerability and watch tower.
My vault is a mess and needs sorting out especially in the login section
some logins have a 2 part process which has been saved as 2 same icon logins .

Are there settings/ preferences i need to reset or correct to stop duplicate logins ?
Is there a better way to tidy things up than opening every individual logins & seeing it the password works in the web site ?
Should i create a new vault and migrate valid information into that new vault and then trash the old info or is that going to make a bigger mess ?
What do u recommend please for a big tidy up over haul ?
I have over 258 items in logins , 2 identities exactly the same stored , software 1 password 4 , 1 password 5
trash 101 items bin
thanks Andrew

    Hi @bodysurfer,

Just before we start can you tell us what you see if you look in the submenu 1Password > Switch to Vault

If the menu option is disabled and you can't see a submenu that is informative too. If the option is enabled though and there are options in there I would be most interested to know what they are.

It shouldn't be easy to duplicate the contents of a vault so I'm wondering if you have a second vault that you weren't aware of, one that is linked to maybe an earlier version of your real vault. I know we introduced a new feature in 1Password 6 for Mac called All Vaults which is enabled by default and shows you the contents of all of your vaults from one view. When we first introduced it we were caught off guard as it turned out many people had created a demo vault at one point or another and had no idea it was there. It resulted in a lot of "I've been hacked!!!!" type messages which were just from not realising. I'm wondering if we have something similar here.

If you really do only have a primary vault I'm not sure how so many items have managed to become duplicated. Unfortunately it will likely be a manual operation to clean everything up. Now how you order the list of items may help here and this can be done from Item List (see Item list header section). You could use the Show Websites with Multiple items option to help identify items still to check and the the sort by Date Modified option to see which is newest. What is worth doing is potentially altering the title of the newest item (for easy identification later) and attempt to fill using it. If the item works you can safely remove the others. If it doesn't you can remove the newest and try the next.

If all copies of 1Password across your various devices are syncing then what you do to one vault will affect the other copies if you do need to go down the route of cleaning up a single vault. If it's the case that somehow you ended up with multiple versions of a primary vault in one copy of 1Password then that's a different case and we can help there. When we hear back from you we will hopefully have a better idea of the cause and what route to take to tidy everything up

Thanks for your help here is a screenshot what i see when i logon to my mac book pro .

    Hi little bobbytables.
    Thanks for you help .
In one password i never have to switch to a vault it comes up in the sub menu automatically .
I think the duplicates occurred in the upgrade to 1PW 6 when i merged my logins.

In my iPhone 6 i see under Vaults

    Primary
    Sync additional Vault

Primary vault service on iPhone is sync to iCloud

In my mac book pro the duplicates that come up are listed as the Primary Vault & then the Password Vault .
So it looks like i have 2 vaults running I guess primary vault and password vault .

my iPhone vault matches my mac book pro vault with duplicates the same as my password vault .

Why does my iPhone items get listed as the primary vault and not my master password vault

So what vault is the major vault ? Primary or Password ?

Yes the syncing is correct and what i do to one happens to the others .

Security Audit on my mac says duplicates 120 logins .

Yes I can manually check will just add new to the ones i want to keep .

So where to from here .
    Thanks Andrew

    Greetings @bodysurfer,

I think the best way forward would be for us to review diagnostic reports from your two devices and use that information along with what you've described here to decide the best route forward. These guides will assist.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums

The email address you will want to use is support+forum@agilebits.com.

When sending the first diagnostic report to the address above it would help immensely if you could include a link to this thread and your forum handle so we can connect the two. For additional diagnostic reports please wait for the automated reply that will be forthcoming. If you either reply to that email or use the email subject as is it will allow our system to link the emails together as belonging to a single issue.

Once you've sent the reports a post here with the ticket ID will help us to keep an eye out for it. With access to the report we should be able to better assist you
