1Password failed to connect to 1Password Mini problem - long delays when using toolbar to login

I've been having an issue with the 6.2 and the previous version where clicking on the 1password toolbar shortcut and entering my master password has a long delay before bring up the 1Password login list. If I click open 1Password from that toolbar icon I get the 1Password failed to connect to 1Password Mini after a very long delay 1-2 minutes. I tried the article to reset extended attributes but that part returns a No Such File error after cutting and pasting the info into terminal.

I thought this was something that was only going to happen in the previous release so waited for an update but since it has been there for two versions now really need it to get fixed. Please help.

  • Hi @adehart ,

We're aware of this issue and are looking into it but we don't have a full solution yet. We do have a temporary workaround described at the end of this message.

If you would like to help us collect some diagnostic information for tracking down this bug, we'd really appreciate it. Below are instructions for collecting diagnostic data:

    1. In Applications/Utilities there is an app called Activity Monitor. Open that, and search for 1Password. You should see two listings. Please click on "1Password mini" so it is selected. Leave it there for now.
    2. Switch over to 1Password and lock it.
    3. Unlock it again. If it is taking a long time, switch back to Activity Monitor (before waiting for it to finish unlocking), and with "1Password mini" still selected, click the Gear button in the toolbar and choose "Sample process" - this may take a minute or two.
    4. When it has finished, copy the text from the result and save it to a file on your desktop or other convenient location.

Then, please send a Diagnostics Report from your Mac as described here:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)

Attach the Diagnostics Report(s) to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report(s) in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report(s) in our inbox. Also, please attach the text from "Sample Process" in the same email message.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can track down the report(s) and ensure that this issue is dealt with quickly. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to correlate the report with this posting. Thanks very much!

After collecting the data above, you can alleviate the problem temporarily by quitting 1Password and 1Password mini. Do this by holding down the control key while selecting Quit 1Password and 1Password mini from the 1Password menu. Then relaunch 1Password.

    Cheers,
    Kevin
