1password disappeared on mac. when I reinstalled it, the passwords are outdated.
1password disappeared from my mac. I did not delete it; one day it was there and the next day it was gone. Also, the plugin for safari was gone too. I reinstalled the app, but the passwords it shows are outdated. How can I get back current passwords. 1password is set to sync with icloud.

Hi @pxforti,
I'm sorry you're having such a strange problem with 1Password! We'll definitely be able to figure this out one way or another.
I don't know why the 1Password app and extension would have disappeared from your Mac, but that shouldn't have caused a problem for your data, as that's stored elsewhere. If you downloaded 1Password again but it shows an older set of data, there's a good chance the newer data is still on your Mac somewhere. One possibility is that you've used the Mac App Store version and the AgileBits Store version of 1Password on your Mac at different times. They store data separately from each other (i.e. in different locations), so if you used one version in the past before switching to the other, then recently switched back to the original version, it would still show your older data.
Now, we can help you get the data from your iPhone and use it to replace the older data you're seeing on your Mac if necessary, but there might be an easier way. Can you please let us know a few more details:
- What version of OS X are you running on your Mac?
- What version of the 1Password app is currently installed on your Mac?
- Is that the AgileBits Store version or the Mac App Store version of 1Password?
- If you currently have the AgileBits Store version installed, have you ever previously purchased 1Password from the Mac App Store? Or if you currently have the Mac App Store version installed, do you remember if you ever previously downloaded 1Password from our website?
- Were you previously syncing your 1Password data between your Mac and iPhone? If so, were you using Dropbox sync, iCloud sync, or Wi-Fi sync?
- Aside from your Mac and iPhone, do you use 1Password on any other devices? If so, do those devices have your data?
Thanks in advance! :)

It's possible that I had a store version. The version I now have is from the App Store. 6.2. Mac version is 10.11.4 (15E65)
Where I can find the backups from the store version? How can I find out if I bought a store version?0 -
Thanks @pxforti! Let's first check if you've previously purchased 1Password from the Mac App Store. You can do that by launching the Mac App Store and going to the Purchased section. If you're signed in with the same Apple ID you would have used to buy 1Password, it should be listed there somewhere. If you find 1Password in that list, and if there's an Install button next to it, click the Install button.
If you found 1Password in your Purchased list and reinstalled it, please find it in the Applications folder - it will be named "1Password.app". Double-click on that to open it - do you see your newer data?
If you don't have 1Password in your Purchased list in the Mac App Store, that's ok. Just let us know what you find one way or the other, and we'll continue from there. Thanks!

OK. I downloaded the app from your site and installed it. That contained the correct data. So it looks like I originally bought it from app store and maybe later bought newest version from your site. When I go to licenses now, it says purchased in app store.
Anyway, after I installed the version from your site instead of App Store version, my data and all backups there there in ~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/Backups
I have no idea how the app disappeared. I went to use it and it was gone. Very strange.
But I am all set now.

That's great news @pxforti! I'm really glad you have your latest data again. Also, I must apologize, as I misread your last message and thought you were currently using the AgileBits Store version and asked how to check if you had purchased the Mac App Store version - but it was actually the opposite. Fortunately you figured out what you needed to do! :)
As far as the license goes, if the AgileBits Store version detects that the Mac App Store version is (or was previously) installed on your Mac, it will automatically activate itself (it works that way to make it easier for customers to switch from the Mac App Store version to the AgileBits Store version). It sounds like that's what happened, so you most likely didn't make an extra purchase from our site.
If you'd prefer to use the Mac App Store version, we'll be happy to help you migrate all your latest data there. It should actually be pretty easy to do that, and there are a few options. But the AgileBits Store version has all the same features, so it's no problem to continue using that one. We'll be happy to help if you need it! :)
