What if I need to access a password-protected website from someone else's computer?
(I am not a customer yet so I can't test anything.)
I have not used a password manager yet because I sometimes need to access one of my password protected accounts from an "unknown" or "unsafe" computer (i.e., check my e-mail or bank account while visiting my sister). I'm assuming the difficult passwords created by 1password for my accounts will not be ones I can easily memorize and enter manually. Will 1password prevent me from doing this? Is there a way to get to my vault without syncing it with every computer I happen to use?
This question is platform independent.

Thanks so much for considering 1Password to keep your digital life secure and organized!
And that’s a great question. One of the benefits of password managers is that they remember and fill your passwords for you, so it’s easy to use long strings of random gibberish for your passwords. Of course, that does become potentially tricky if you’re away from your computer. There are a few solutions I can offer you, however:
- 1Password Families. Our new subscription service keeps your family’s data secure and available on all your devices, plus there is a handy web interface that would allow you to access your data from any computer (provided you have your appropriate account information.)
- 1Password for iOS and 1Password for Android. 1Password is not just a desktop solution, we have apps available for mobile devices as well. And best of all, the basic versions of the mobile apps are free. This means you can have your 1Password data with you on the go.
- Wordlist passwords. Now, our goal with 1Password is to ensure that you only ever have to remember one password. It’s a great goal, but there are cases where you may want to keep another password in your brain (for example, if you know that you will be visiting your sister often and you will need to check your email while you’re there). 1Password can generate different types of passwords for you. One is a long string of random characters:

and the other is a few random words:besotted andean imposing jester
. The words are not only far easier to type, but they’re also not too difficult to remember, and they’re still secure.
I hope this helps! Of course, if you have any further questions, we’re always here for you.
