I wonder if every future update of the app, will be a availiable for future updates simply as updating it in the App store. If i buy the app for Mac , do i get full access to it on mobile ?
And how can i get a coupon in case i decide to buy the app?
After buying the full app, i still need to buy extensions ?
And if i want to upgrade to a familiar or work plan ?
I ask that because i just saw that the prices some time ago was almost half of the price it is today.
Let me know so i can decide
Many thanks

    Hi @Guizones,

I'll try to address each of your questions one at a time!

I wonder if every future update of the app, will be a availiable for future updates simply as updating it in the App store.

You get regular updates for 1Password for free, however the major updates might not be paid. For reference, the update from 1Password 3 to 4 was paid, but 4 to 5 and 5 to 6 have both been free.

If i buy the app for Mac , do i get full access to it on mobile ?

You always have access to the basic version of 1Password for iOS, for free. The pro features for iOS are not included on the Mac/Windows license.

After buying the full app, i still need to buy extensions ?

No, the browser extensions are part of the Mac/Windows app!

And if i want to upgrade to a familiar or work plan ?

I think you are talking here about 1Password Families. 1Password Families is a slightly different concept than a standalone license. 1Password families is subscription based. Your subscription includes being able to use the most recent version of the apps on all your devices. You also have sharing functionalities and no need to worry about syncing devices, among several other perks. You can read more about it here: https://blog.agilebits.com/2016/02/16/introducing-1password-for-families/

I hope this helps you clarify how it all works, and feel free to ask any other questions that you have! :chuffed:

    Thanks Rudy.
Well , i really do like your product, and i was seriously considering buying it.
But to pay the 64 dollars, and not to be sure if i need to pay for future updates, and become a hostage of the app, it is not what i was looking for.
So i will think a bit more, but iff you want to add any considerations into that , i appreciate it.

    Hi @Guizones,

Thank you for your feedback about that! There are a few things I wanted to mention that I think will help you in making your decision:

First, please know that you will not "become a hostage of the app". If you purchase a standalone license for 1Password for Mac, your license for the purchased version will never expire, and you'll receive all "point updates" for free - for example, if you buy a license for 1Password 6 for Mac, updates for version 6.3, 6.4, and so on will all be free. A new version such as 1Password 7 for Mac may or may not be a paid upgrade - but even if it is, we don't force you to upgrade and you can continue using your licensed version for as long as your computer's operating system supports it. There are no separate maintenance or subscription fees.

Something else you should keep in mind is that if a future version is a paid upgrade, and if you purchased a license from our AgileBits Store, we're able to give you an upgrade discount. On the other hand, we're unable to give upgrade discounts on the Mac App Store, as Apple doesn't currently provide a way to do that.

Instead of buying a standalone license, you might be more interested in a 1Password Families subscription - even if you're a family of one. ;) A Families subscription includes the ability to use the 1Password apps on all supported platforms at no additional charge (that includes the desktop apps as well as free Pro features in 1Password for iOS and Android). Future upgrades to those apps are also free with a Families subscription.

I'm not sure if you already know this, but we have a free trial for the Mac version of 1Password, so you're welcome to try that out for free if you download a copy from our download site. We also offer a free trial for a 1Password Families subscription, so you can also try that for free to see if it suits your needs.

Hopefully this helps, but please let us know if you have any questions about that or need anything else. We're here for you! :)

    Hi @Guizones,

Are you asking how much it cost existing customers to upgrade to the latest version of 1Password for Mac? If so, 1Password 6 for Mac was a completely free upgrade for anyone who had a license for 1Password 4 or 5 for Mac. Likewise, 1Password 5 was a free upgrade from 1Password 4.

Upgrading from a 1Password 3 for Mac license to version 4/5/6 is a paid upgrade, but anyone who purchased a license for 1Password 3 in 2013 received that upgrade for free. For those who purchased a 1Password 3 for Mac license prior to 2013, we offer a 50% upgrade discount.

If you have more questions about that, just let us know. :)

Yes, but how much was the 100% and the 50% ? So i decide once and for all ?

  • If I recall correctly new licenses for 1Password for Mac for a Single User license at that point were $49.99, and the upgrade would've been $24.99. That is not necessarily indicitive of how future upgrades might work.

The most stable / easiest to budget for pricing comes from our subscription services.
