Can I share with my wife only on iOS? I purchased the $9.99 pro pack but I can't seem to share.
I am new to 1Password. I just purchased the $9.99 pro pack on iOS because I thought it would give me more sharing capabilities, more precisely to be able to share vaults with my wife on her iPhone. So far, I've been searching on the forums and can't find anything that describes how to setup sharing between iOS devices. Mainly, all the help mentions how to sync and share between Mac and iOS devices. Does that mean I need to purchase the family sharing app for Mac? I would like to have everything on my iPhone and be able to share certain things with my wife on her iPhone.

Hi @mralexanderkim,
I’m sorry for the confusion here! I’ll do what I can to clear things up.
The Pro features on iOS do give you the ability to have multiple vaults on iOS, which will be what you want if you only want to share some of your information with your wife. There are two things to be aware of here:
- It is not currently possible to create vaults using the iOS app. They will need to be created using the desktop app.
- In order to have multiple vaults on her iOS device, your wife will need to purchase the Pro features as well.
Now, we do offer a free 30-day trial of 1Password for Mac, so you could install the app temporarily, set up your shared vaults and sync it all to your iOS devices and then choose not to buy a license for the Mac version at the end of the trial. You can get the trial from our downloads page. Of course, I hope that at the end of the 30 days, you’re completely in love with 1Password for Mac and decide to get a license for your desktops as well, but that’s up to you.
There is another solution available to you: 1Password Families. All the 1Password apps are included in your subscription fee, so you can use 1Password on all your family’s devices, and all of your vaults will sync instantly.
Whichever option you choose, I hope this helps!

Hi Megan,
Thanks for this. It was very helpful.
If I choose to go with 1Password Families and the monthly subscription of $5.00 then could I get my $9.99 Pro feature that I already paid for on iOS returned to me? Just wanted to know what my options are.
Thanks,

Hi Alex ( @mralexanderkim ),
Because the Pro features were purchased through the App Store, we have no control over that refund. But you are welcome to contact Apple and request a refund if you decide to go with 1Password Families.
Sorry I don’t have a perfect answer for you there, but Apple is usually pretty good with refunds, in my experience.

Hi Megan,
I had one more thought and question that I'd like to ask. If I wanted to go ahead and purchase 1Password for Mac would I be able to share vaults between my wife's iPhone and my iPhone?
And 1Password for Mac is a one-time purchase of $64.99, correct?
Thanks for your help!

Hi Alex,
If you want to share vaults we'd highly recommend the Families option over the standalone products. After all, that is specifically one of the main reasons we designed Families: feedback from customers that having their data on their devices, and sharing their data, needed to be easier.
That said, yes, you can also do it with a "1Password license" (which includes 1Password 6 for Mac, 1Password 4 for Windows, and the basic versions of the mobile apps). A 1Password license is a one time fee, but only includes the current major version of the products (e.x. v3.1 -> v3.2 is included, v3 -> v4 is a paid upgrade in most cases). To share vaults using the standalone apps you'd need to use Dropbox:
Share a vault | 1Password 6 for Mac
I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.
Ben
