I'm trying to sync 1 password vaults on Dropbox, so that I can transfer from iOS to Android

I'm trying to sync 1 password vaults to transfer from iOS to Android, however while Android shows me the presence of only 1 vault, I can see 2 on iOS, or more precisely 2 folders (on android the single it shows has a 1 password icon while the other is just an empty folder).

The problem is that if I try to sync using iOS to the only vault that I can use on android then it stops, it won't sync no matter what I try and it will actually disconnect the syncing process. What else can I try? I don't have 1 password on my mac so I can't transfer everything on it and then on android and I can't use the wifi feature over phones.

Would really need help because I loved 1 password on iOS and used it all the time

Android system reads the iOS vault as an empty folder, I've just tried deleting both and creating a new one on which i saved the info and android still can't read that as a vault

    Hi @JohnPyn,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with 1Password right now. I have a few follow-up questions to make sure I understand your 1Password setup.

    • Do you use 1Password on any desktop machines or are you working with mobile only?
    • If you look in Dropbox at your 1Password data, do your vaults have the Agile Keychain (.agilekeychain) or OPVault (.opvault) format?

Yes indeed, I only have 1 password on mobile.

As far as formats are concerned yes you are right and my explanation was rather bad. I have two different formats, one is opvault and the other is agile keychain, android can only read the latter while iOS the former.

  • Hi @JohnPyn,

Sorry for the trouble. This is a bit of a pain point until we get OPVault support into the stable release for Android. I've just replied to another customer with this same concern and I think my reply will apply equally to your situation:

I have 1PW (free edition) on my IOS device, please help me guide on how to sync with my android ph? - AgileBits Support Forum

    Thanks!

I apologize but I can't seem to understand the last part, my android can already create agilekeychain... But that's not the iOS save file's format

  • Correct, but if you have an Agile Keychain in Dropbox 1Password for iOS can sync with it. :)

I apologise for my delay in the response... iOS can't sync with agile keychain and Android can't with opvault.

Or rather, android doesn't recognise opvault at all, iOS does kind of recognise agile format but if I try to select it a spinning wheel appears in the status bar and it keeps spinning all the time; that made me think that it was syncing but actually it wasn't in fact I tried going back to the sync section and it was like no sync destination had been chosen.

I apologise if something may be unclear, I'll try to clear it better

@JohnPyn: That's not true. 1Password for iOS absolutely can sync with an AgileKeychain. I have a few myself. You just have to select the appropriate vault when you set it up. 1Password for Android has OPVault support i beta currently, so if all goes well you'll be able to use that soon too.

It may be the issue you're having with AgileKeychain on iOS is the Dropbox app itself (uninstalling that often helps, as 1Password can then authenticate on its own) or Dropbox may simply be throttling connections while you try to download the whole vault at once.

Are you still having trouble there? It wasn't clear from your comments. Please let us know!

@brenty I actually don't have the Dropbox app on the iPhone. The problem I'm encountering on the iPhone is this:
I go to sync, I look for Dropbox and I find the agilekeychain (this is the empty one I created from the android device) I select it, it says that it may take a moment then it goes back to the sync menu and nothing has happened.

    Am I doing something wrong?

  • @JohnPyn,

I'd like to ask you to create some Diagnostics Reports, one from each of your devices:

Attach the Diagnostics Report(s) to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report(s) in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report(s) in our inbox.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can track down the report(s) and ensure that this issue is dealt with quickly. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks very much!

    Ben
