1 P failed to connect to 1P mini - none of your suggestions resolved the issue

I upgraded to OSX El Capitan 10.11.4. After the upgrade, the Mac restarted and an error message popped up saying "1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini Please restart 1Password. If this does not help, please contact AgileBits support". I went to your support page and searched for this error message. Followed the instructions. 1P is in my Applications folder. I restarted my Mac. I copied and pasted "xattr -d -r -s com.apple.quarantine /Applications/1Password\ 6.app" into the terminal and hit return. It replied with "xattr: No such file: /Applications/1Password 6.app betty-pepaus-macbook-pro:~ bpepau$"
What can I do now?

1Password Version: 4
Extension Version: no idea
OS Version: OSX 10.11.4
Sync Type: iCloud or DropBox maybe?

    Greetings @bpepau,

When you posted your question you entered some details into various fields, one of which was which version of 1Password are you running. Now you say you're running version 4, is that correct?

1Password 4 for Mac is quite old now and any customer with a valid 1Password 4 licence is automatically entitled to run 1Password 6 for Mac. If you are indeed running 1Password 4 the first thing we really want to do is get you running the latest version.

    I would recommend the following.

    1. Drag the 1Password 4 application from your /Applications/ folder to the Trash. Please don't use an app cleaner.
    2. Reboot your Mac.
    3. Download 1Password again from our AgileBits Download page and move it to your /Applications/ folder. I'm assuming you are an AgileBits Store customer as otherwise OS X should be nagging you about updating 1Password via their App Store.

If you are still experiencing the issue about being unable to connect to 1Password mini you should now find the command we referenced will now work as the 1Password 6 application now exists.

    Does this help at all?

LittleBobbyTables.....many thanks. I did as you instructed. All is well. Appreciate your help. No idea how I got so far behind on the 1P versions. Never got any update requests from AgileBits. Guess I need to check for myself in the future. Again, Thank you so much.

    Hi @bpepau,

I'm surprised 1Password wasn't mentioning there were available updates too but I confess I haven't run 1Password 4 for a while. I'm just glad we were able to get things running smoothly again
