Expand Previously Used Passwords

It would be really helpful to implement previously used passwords in the "Passwords" category. Previously used passwords are currently only shown in "Logins," but I have found myself looking for a previously used password and have been unable to recover it (because it wasn't a login). Thoughts?

  • Hi @yosph,

Thanks for writing in. I'm not entirely sure I understand. The Passwords category stores passwords created by the Password Generator. These are not necessarily associated with a website. Sometimes the only information contained within are the actual password that was generated. How would you envision this working?

    Please let me know. :)

There are cases where someone might need a password (not a login) and need to generate new ones. Unlike the login section, these passwords don't get saved under "Previously used passwords."

@yosph: Sorry for the confusion! "Password" items only exist to provide a record of passwords you generate using 1Password. They're not meant for use, except as a safety net. For example, if you update your password on a website using a password you generate in the app but forget to update your login item, you can get the generated password from its corresponding Password item so you're not locked out of your account. Given that Logins can be used to both save and fill your passwords, there's really no reason to manually save Password items. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions! :)
