  • Hi @Surbhu,

Thanks for taking the time to write in!

Unfortunately at present the answer is "you don't." Documents cannot, yet, be created or edited on iOS. That is something we're hoping to change in a future update, though. :)

@bwoodruff, can you give even a rough estimate on when this will be functional?

The ability to add documents to the iOS app is very important for me. I also don't use a Mac, so I really don't have any way to add documents. I do have a Win10 pc, but your Win10 beta ALSO does not support documents.

    I really need this guys.

  • Hi @MDBrown,

The 1Password web interface can add Documents (at least in Chrome) so that may be a possible workaround until other options become available. Unfortunately I cannot give even a rough estimate. As a rule we do not speculate on future features (or possible future features).

That's fantastic! I can confirm it works on iOS Safari too (at least for me).

Cool. Adding documents was the only reason I needed the Windows app. I installed the 30 day trial version just to add my docs. But that was only a temporary fix.

    Thanks so much.

Now that I've solved that, I have another documents question, and this seems like the most appropriately-titled discussion to ask it in:

First, I'm using 1PW for Families on iOS.

When I create a new document, and upload the file, how do I link it to another item? For example, I uploaded a scanned copy of my passport, thereby creating a "Document" item. I want to link it to my "Passport" item. The term I see in the app is "Related Item".

Also, can a document be linked to more than 1 item? For example, can I link the passport "Document" to both my "Passport" item and my "Identity" item?

@MDBrown: It isn't possible to add Documents in 1Password for iOS currently, but in 1Password for Mac you can edit an item (under Related Items) to Link Existing (connect) or Add New File (upload). So in your example, if you've already added the scan as a Document, you'd select "Link Existing" to connect it to your Passport item. Whereas if you've just got the image on your Mac, you'd select "Add New File" to both upload the scan as a Document and connect it to the Passport item.

    Yep! :chuffed:

Actually, I am able to add a document on iOS, using the web interface as @bwoodruff advised (see above). Are you saying that, even if I already have the document added, I still can't link it to an existing item?

There must be a simple fix for that.

  • @MDBrown,

    Right, but:

It isn't possible to add Documents in 1Password for iOS currently

    (emphasis mine)

While it may be possible to do from the web, it isn't currently possible in the native app. That is something we hope to improve upon.

Are you saying that, even if I already have the document added, I still can't link it to an existing item?

Correct. The web doesn't have an interface for linking items, yet.

There must be a simple fix for that.

I used to say that quite often too until I started sitting in on some of the development calls; hearing them talk about some of the challenges that can come up when trying to address what may seem like the simplest of changes. ;)

Indeed, changing things and adding features is easy. Making it all work is the hard part.
