I bought a new iphone 6s and now my 1P app has a different unlock code. How to reset?

  • Hi @mstu,

Thanks for taking the time to write in. If you cannot remember what password would've been used at the time the backup that was restored on your new phone was made please see this guide:

(iOS) My Master Password is not being accepted. What should I do?

I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

Hi Ben, thanks for your response. I'm not sure it's the master password I'm needing, I know that's what's used on my mac (6 digits). But on my iphone it's called a unlock code (4 digits). I never changed it before purchasing my new phone so I'm guessing I delete the app and reload it might help?

Before we go any further... Could you please confirm for me which of these you have?

If you're using v6 and you know your Master Password you should be able to unlock using that (canceling the PIN prompt if necessary).

Ben, thanks for helping me troubleshoot this. When I deleted then re-uploaded the app I was able to sync to my computer. The phone app then did ask me for a master password so I must have updated to a newer vers of the phone app when I deleted and re-installed. I really like how 1Password works but updating to new versions always seems to require more troubleshooting than I would expect from other apps. Hopefully I'm troublefree for a while now. Thank you again.

  • Thanks for the update, @mstu. You're most welcome. That is a pain point that we're aware of and are currently working on a new importer that'll hopefully ease the transition in the future.

    Ben
