First of all, I am: 1. a new user, 2. a non-techie, 3. >6.5 decades on the globe, and a purchaser of 1Password 6. I bought it for its reputation and access to principals of the organization available on this forum, but mostly so I could load it onto my Mac at home, enter all the Mac keychain items (manually), then be able to access (only) this data when traveling with my (and my wife's) iPads and iPhones, which share one Apple account.

Now I find out that 1PasswordAnywhere is exiting the stage, I have no use for a monthly subscription for access I might need 2-4 times a year, and I haven't even started sync'ing my data to my devices on iCloud yet.
I wish I had been aware of this before I entered 140+ items in my 1PW vault.

I sort of comprehend the business model being pursued, old technology with the 1PWAnywhere, and why talented people created something (i.e. Teams/Families) that they feel is special, as well as an income stream to support their servers, but access on my portable devices is why I needed this product, and now what? I leave on a 3 week trip overseas in few days and I have no idea to how to keep medical info, insurance, emergency #'s, etc. with me except to write them down on a piece of paper.

    More than a little disappointed....

    Hi, @farmdoc,

Most of your difficulty is because you are new to 1PW and are travelling very soon before you are up to speed with 1PW.

You can (and should) set up sync between your Mac and your iDevices, and then will have full access to your items. This will involve getting 1PW for iOS (free in its basic form, with an in-app purchase) and then setting up sync using either Dropbox or iCloud. This works fine.

What 1PW Anywhere did was allow you to use access to your passwords using a web browser on any computer. This was useful if you were not allowed or did not want to install 1PW on the computer you wanted access from. One of the other people in this thread needed access from a work computer where he could not install programs. And my own concern is the very rare occasion when I might need emergency access (for instance, when travelling, if my iPad got stolen). But for most of us most of the time, including you, straightforward sync is fine, you don't need 1PW Anywhere.

OK, mea culpa...I apologize and retract all those bad thoughts directed towards you and your group. Please, all readers of this thread: I was premature in castigating the Agile team re: syncing between my Mac and my IOS devices, see above post.
Thank you, Monsieur danco, for your reply and pointing out the error of my ways.

@farmdoc: No need to apologize! It's at least half our fault since the current transition (1PasswordAnywhere, 1Password Families, etc.) is a result of decisions we've made — however important, necessary, and helpful they may be in the long-term. I'm very sorry that we've confused things to the point where you thought you were stuck and out of luck, when in fact you should be able to get things setup the way you described!

With that in mind, I've split you off into a separate discussion so we can focus on just that: getting you up-and-sycning before your trip! (Feel free to let me know where you're going so I can be sufficiently envious ;) ).

If you're only using Apple devices, this is pretty straightforward*:

    1. Setup iCloud Sync in 1Password on the device where you have your data stored: 1Password for Mac or 1Password for iOS
    2. Setup iCloud Sync on each additional device, and they will share the same 1Password data in iCloud.
    3. That's it! :)

*Now, the main caveat (and one of the many reasons we created 1Password Families) is that syncing between platforms and sharing data _between_ family members does require some setup, and in some cases has limitations: iCloud Sync works only on Apple devices of course, but also only between devices using the same Apple ID. It is not possible to share data between Apple IDs, so unless you and your wife are sharing one, that may be a problem for you. And while Dropbox is cross-platform and you can share a Dropbox vault between accounts, 1Password Families makes all of that setup pretty much go away. Depending on how many family members and devices you're managing, that may me a huge win for you like it is for me. But if you just need to share a single vault with your wife, Dropbox is great for that once you've set it up. That's what I did for years myself (and still do, in a few cases).

It wasn't completely clear to me exactly what you were working with, so it may be that this covers what you need to get setup. But if you have any questions at all or have a more complex situation than just Macs and iPhones, be sure to let me know the details and I'll be happy to go over the options with you and walk you through the setup. Cheers! :)

AAALLlright!! We're cooking! Got Password on one of my Mac's, downloaded the IOS app to my iPhone & iPad, as well as my spouses and everything is ......fine. Now, one last ? I downloaded the trial app and entered some things to see how it worked. Now I have both 1Password and 1Password 6; how do I combine them to get the items I entered into the main app and delete the trial app? (on my MacBookPro)

it sounds like you have two copies of 1Password installed on your Mac. Is that the case? Did you purchase 1Password from the Mac App Store? Let me know where you have the data you want to keep, and we'll go from there. Thanks in advance! :)
