I have 4 vaults. I need to hand off one vault to a colleague without them seeing my master pw
I have had a master password for some time and I do not want to review my master password but I want to take one of the vaults that I currently have and hand it off to a colleague. I have created a dropbox account where I can sync the particular vault that I have selected but I am not sure how to set the password for that vault. In the end, I want them to just have the vault and we are going to share it. I suppose I could export the vault but I do not want to pass it to them in text format, if necessary. Thank you.

Hey there @kbrunk,
I think I can clear this up for you.
Basically when you set up 1Password you created your first vault and set a Master Password for it.
Any subsequent Vaults you created are considered "Secondary Vaults" and you set Master Passwords for those vaults at the time you created them. But, they all unlock automatically via your Primary vault when you put in the Master Password for that particular vault.
So, you should be able to hand off that particular vault to your colleague without giving him your Master Password. But you will have to give him the Master Password for that particular Secondary vault.
Considering that, maybe you don't want even that Master Password revealed. So you can select that Vault in the Vault Dropdown menu, and go to Preferences > Security and click the button to change the Master Password for that particular vault and then hand it off to your colleague.
Hope this helps.

Thank you. We will try that.

Greetings @kbrunk,
Please do keep us updated as to how you get along. Obviously we want you to feel confident everything is working as it should so you may find it reassures if you create a temporary OS X user account where you can set up 1Password again (the support folders, vaults etc. are localised to a specific user account so account A sees nothing in account B) and that way you can be reassured that everything has gone to plan and that the person is only accessing what you want them to with the password you believe it to be. What you want to do though is definitely possible as Nathan has described.
