Inconsistent data between desktop app, mini, and Safari extension with 6.2.1

Hi — first of all, I'm using the direct-from-you-guys version of 1Password, running on OS X 10.11.4. I'm syncing with Dropbox. Since yesterday's 6.2.1 1Password upgrade, I have data in my (only) vault which is visible from the desktop app, but neither from 1Password Mini nor from the Safari extension. In particular, I have a login record which is also marked as a Favorite (it holds the credentials for my primary bank account) which (1) can't been seen in the Favorites list from Mini or the extension, (2) nor does it show up in the list of login records, (3) nor is it found when I search all records from either of those interface. The only way I can get to the record is to launch the desktop app, where it appears both in the Favorites list and in the Logins list. Since I use that login record on a daily basis, I know that it worked correctly until yesterday's 1Password upgrade.

What I've done so far: 1. quit out of Mini and restart it. 2. Quit out of the desktop app and relaunch. 3. Uninstall the browser extension, download the current one from your site, and reinstall. 4. Check for multiple copies of 1Password in any of my filesystems; there is only one. 5. Make a copy of the login record using the desktop app, to see if the copy would be visible from the other two interfaces. None of these strategies yielded positive results; my bank login record, and the duplicate record I made from it, are only visible from the desktop app, but not from the mini or extension interfaces. In contrast, the record is visible on my iPhone and my iPad, as is the newly-created duplicate entry, therefore I know that Dropbox sync is working correctly. The problem is only with the multiple ways of accessing the vault on my OS X machine.

What would you like me to try next? Thanks, Paul Weiss

    Hi @Tburgueso,

From inside the main 1Password window can you edit the item in question please and check the state of the display option. I believe it is currently set to Never display in browser in contrast to the default setting of Always and the purpose of this option is to control the visibility of an item when in 1Password mini.

Just to help explain how 1Password works. The 1Password Browser Extension doesn't actually have any form of User Interface (UI) at all, all it does is ask 1Password mini to appear so you should never see a difference between using the keyboard shortcut to access 1Password mini, the 1Password icon in the OS X menu bar or clicking on the 1Password Browser Extension icon - they're all opening up the same menu.

Does that help the item become visible in 1Password mini?

Yes, that's it — thanks! It's totally weird that I could check my bank balance from the mini yesterday morning before the upgrade, but that attribute got toggled somehow. Is there any audit procedure I can use on my data to make sure that no other items have the visibility flag turned off?

    Hello @Tburgueso,

    There is

If you perform an advanced search (file menu option Edit > Find > Show Search Options) you can ask 1Password to search all items and to look for not Shown in browser The search options should initially look something like.

and once you alter that first menu look a bit more like

as the ordering of the menus changes to make the text grammatically correct. That will show you any items that won't appear in 1Password mini

Thanks once again. I found a half-dozen. I think that the visibility attributes were appropriately turned off on all except the entry which caused my request for help, indicating that at one point I actually was aware of the functionality. I'm inclined to think that the attribute's toggling was my own error, although I can't for the life of me figure out why I would have changed it; the underlying credentials haven't changed for months. Let's mark the incident closed, though, unless you get other similar mysteries from other users.
