Unable to upgrade
I have just cloned my hard drive on to what will be a replacement, mounted in a USB drive carrier, and booted from it. When I go to 1Password, I can't upgrade it because two copies of 1Password are detected. I can't follow your advice to delete one of them because it is on my primary hard drive and I can't disconnect it without taking the iMac to pieces!
There is an option to continue with the upgrade but I am worried about doing that without further advice.
Another possibility that occurred to me would be to dismount the primary hard drive temporarily using the terminal but I would have to be very careful about doing that.
1Password Version: 6.2
Extension Version: 4.5.5
OS Version: 10.11.4

Hey there @IanfaeAiberdeen,
I think I can help you with this,
That prompt is there because Mac OS X can sometimes have issues when there are multiple copies of an application on your computer. We try to alert users who have multiple copies so we can make their experience using the application as easy and reliable as possible. We have historically had a sizeable number of users contacting us with weird behaviours that are related to having multiple copies of 1Password on their computer.
If you want to keep those copies of 1Password around you are free to click the prompt to continue without the update. It will not affect the upgrade itself.
However, it's somewhat of an issue that you have two copies on the system for the reasons I described. Because of the issue with Mac OS X you might experience some issues with your 1Password when trying to connect to the 1Password Mini.

Thanks. I've been running the system with another cloned backup which is set to update automatically every night, so it is always mounted. I've never so far had any problem running 1Password except when updating, when of course I have been able to eject it to carry out the update and mount it again afterwards.
Obviously if weird behaviours ensue, I will have an idea what has caused them. Hopefully they won't as the backup is 100% essential and I don't want to have to remember to mount it every night, or to have to eject it every time I want to use 1Password.

Update completed without a hitch after I chose to continue, and no problems with 1Password or 1Password Mini.
Thanks.

Thanks for the update. We continue to look at the best way to solve this issue; and have reported it to Apple as well.
Cheers,
