15 minutes ago my daughter bought 1Password for IOS for £50 from Apple App Store on her phone. She expected to be able to download the Mac version for free, but this is not the case. What's happening? Your site specifically says that you only purchase once for all devices. Advice welcome!

1Password Version: 6.3.1
Extension Version: n/a
OS Version: 9.3.1
Sync Type: iCloud

    Double-check what she bought.

1PW for iOS is free (but with an in-app purchase costing around $10).

At price £50 she will have bought 1PW for Mac, and should be able to download it on her Mac.

The "only purchase once for all devices" refers to the new subscription model, 1PW for Families.

The non-subscription model consists of separate purchases, 1PW for Mac and 1PW for Windows (one licence covers both), free 1PW for iOS, and free trial for Android.

Thanks for commenting. We've sorted it out, I'll post the steps for the benefit of others because the AgileBits instructions are somewhat lacking.

The "only purchase once for all devices" refers to the new subscription model,

This is not correct. She did spend 50 quid on the IOS version, her next step was where she went wrong: she headed for the OS X app store to download the Mac client. What she should have done is download it from AgileBits. When she did that, she was able to log in using the same credentials used to set herself up on IOS, establish sync and all is good. So one payment and we have IOS and OS X in sync.

Maybe we didn't look in the right place, but we couldn't find any clear instructions on the AgileBits site that explains what are, in fact, really simple steps! Working now. :-)

The point is that she could NOT have spent 50 pounds on the iOS version, as the iOS version is free. and no purchase price is asked for. She could only have spent it on the Mac OS X. Anyway you have it working now, so all seems well.

Perhaps I should mention that I am just a volunteer, not an AgileBits staff member, so I am not writing as a representative of AgileBits.

@caw1password: Indeed, it is definitely a bit confusing that Apple calls their two very separate stores both simply "App Store". It sounds like with the Mac app purchase and iOS app download you should be all set, but be sure to reach out if you have any other questions! :)

@brenty, thanks. I think she probably saw the price on the Mac app store and thought that's what she'd paid when she installed it on her iPhone (which she did first). She then updated her Mac by downloading the 1Password installer direct from AgileBits, so she must be using a trial version, right? How does she tell?

@caw1password: The download from the AgileBits site works as a free trial for 30 days, and then after that if you buy a license from the AgileBits Store you can register the app to remove the trial restrictions. The Mac App Store does not support trials, so in order to download it there it must be purchased. Let me know if you have any other questions! :)
