Help! I can't find my backup file on Time Machine anywhere.
I've got 1Pass4, recently upgraded to El Capitan. Had to reinstall OS but cannot find backup file anywhere. I've read all your FAQs. I've looked in the Library/Application Support but there is not Container folder and no 1Password folder either. I've tried cutting and pasting the links you've offered elsewhere directly into Time Machine, but it just keeps saying folder doesn't exist. I've looked manually, but there's nothing. What to do?? Thanks.

One quick thought, though you may well know it and have already tried.
There are several Library folders. Have you looked in the correct one?
You need the Library folder in your Home folder, not the one at the top level of your hard drive. And that is hidden by default so you might not have seen it.
If you haven't looked there, press the Option key while in the Go folder of Finder and it will let you go to the relevant Library. Then enter Time Machine and you will get tis backups of that folder.

@feemur: Indeed, only the Mac App Store version of 1Password uses a "container" folder for the data. 1Password for Mac version 4 and up store their data in
~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/
. Note that~
represents your home folder, so you won't find anything useful in the system/Library
folder. If you can get a recent backup from there, that's all you need. Please let me know what you find!0 -
Thanks but like I said, I already looked and it's just not there. I can locate the right Library folder, but in backup, there's no folder called 1Passoword 4, and nothing comes up when I do a search, either. Is there some other way of solving this problem?

Found it! Had to use Terminal in the end. Thanks.

It was hidden but I couldn't unhide it using traditional methods. Had to try multiple commands in terminal before finally getting it to show.

Normally, you should be able to simply hold down the Option key while viewing the Go menu in Finder. That should reveal the option to open your Library folder. Alternatively, you can choose Go > Go to Folder and enter the full path there. It should work regardless of whether the folder is shown in Finder or not.
If neither of those worked, I'm glad you were able to get it sorted out in Terminal. :+1:
If we can be of further assistance, please let us know. We are always here to help. :)
Cheers!
