Can't access actual passwords through Dropbox sync?
Hello! I have my 1password synced to Dropbox. I see the file when I go to Dropbox, but when I click in I do not see any intelligible I formation (read: if I needed to, I could not lookup a password/login info from the drop of file). I just wanted to confirm if this is as it should be. Does this effectively mean I can only access the "readable" information through my app, and if I got a new phone I could sync it to it? Thanks?

Hi @dapearlman,
I'm happy to hear that you're using 1Password. The data stored in your computer or Dropbox account is saved encrypted, that's why you can't read the files and that's why 1Password is secure :chuffed: If your data was stored in plain text anyone who had access to the folder would be able to see all your passwords! When you need to see your information, your Master Password is used to decrypt your data and make make it readable.

You're completely right, without the app and your Master Password the files are just gibberish. If you get a new phone you can sync your existing data to it using Dropbox, for example.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or if there's anything else that we can help you with :chuffed:
