1password failed to connect to 1 password mini

Suddenly 1password stopped working after many years of using different versions. I followed the tip suggested by the tool (https://support.1password.com/error-connect-to-mini/) but it didn't work. I tried recovering the app from a time Machine backup but didn't work. Apparently I own version 6 license, will upgrading fix this issue?

    Thanks for taking the time to contact us. I'm sorry that you are having some trouble.

    I would definitely recommend upgrading to 1Password 6. If you have a 1Password 5 license, it works for 1Password 6 as well. Since you are running OS X El Capitan, your system meets the requirements.

    1. Download 1Password 6
    2. Move the 1Password 6 app to your Applications folder.
    3. Move the old 1Password app to the Trash.
    4. Restart your Mac.

    Let me know if you still have the problem in 1Password 6.
