Why can't 1PW connect to mini after every update?

Why is it after every update from the MAS, when I launch 1PW, it hangs with the bar saying: Connecting to 1Password mini and then errors. 1PW then closes and when I open it next it's fine.

Just annoying if nothing else.

  • Hi @netnothing ,

When the 1Password main app launches 1Password mini, it actually can't launch it directly. It asks OS X to launch it for us. On top of that, the 1Password main app can not say "launch the new 1Password mini that is inside this app", it can only ask to launch "1Password mini". But OS X wants to launch the one it is used to launching. When it's not there (because you just upgraded), it goes and looks for another copy. Sometimes it takes a while to find that copy, and the 1Password main app gives up and gives you the error.

Now, to compound that, if there is something about your data that takes a long time to open, the main 1Password app has to wait for OS X to find the new version of the mini, and wait for the mini to launch. If that takes more than ~45 seconds, it gives up and prompts you for the error.
