Hi everyone,

We're currently investigating an issue where users syncing with iCloud in the AgileBits Store version of 1Password are being prompted to log back into their iCloud account.

Some background

When you set up sync using iCloud, you were asked to log in to iCloud with your AppleID. Once you logged in, Apple provided 1Password with a "token" so 1Password can continue to log in to iCloud and sync your data without asking you for your log in information every time sync occurred. These tokens do not have a definitive expiry date, but they can expire. Usually this happens when you change your password or security settings for your AppleID. However, it can happen at other times, as well.

What's happening?

What appears to be happening is that the iCloud server is forcing a login every 24 hours (we haven't confirmed the exact time frame yet, but that seems to be about right).

We are seeing it here as well and have contacted Apple for more information. In the meantime, it is safe to login when you receive that prompt.

What you can do

Make sure you are updated to version 6.3 of 1Password. Sign in using your Apple ID in the browser when prompted.

We apologize for the inconvenience and will update this announcement thread when we have more information on this issue.

Update: June 1, 2016

We've been working with Apple to get to the bottom of this issue and we're pleased to say that progress is being made!

At this time, users should stop seeing the frequent requests to log in to their iCloud accounts. You may need to log in one final time, but after that it should be smooth sailing!

We're still looking for a more permanent solution here, but we hope things are easier for you while we continue the search. If you continue to get prompted to log in tomorrow and beyond, please let us know either here in the forums, or by emailing in to support+forums@agilebits.com.
