Unable to access password vault on iPhone

I have an iPad Air with 1Password version 6.4.2 and OS 9.3.2 installed. I am using Dropbox to store my passwords and everything works great on the iPad. I am trying to sync this up with 1Password installed on my iPhone which also has version 6.4.2 and OS 9.3.2 installed. The problem is, I've forgotten my vault password on the iPhone. Is there any way that I can reset the installation on my iPhone and essentially start over there? My iTunes installation is on a Windows PC. The message I see that I cannot get around is "Enter the password for 1Password.opvault in Dropbox to continue".

1Password Version: 6.4.2
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: 9.3.2
Sync Type: DropBox

    Hello Starbuck,

Sorry that you are confused by the request for your Dropbox Vault password. When I updated my vault to OPVault on Android, I was a little confused by this request myself.
What 1Password actually wants to know, is your Master Password — the one that you use to open your app.
If your Dropbox OPVault is currently in the process of updating, you'll get an error message that it can't be accessed (with advice on how to restore the AgileBits Keychain) just ignore this and start over.

    Hope this helps,
    Rob

    Hi @starbuck,

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble your having with 1Password! Do you use the same Master Password on both of your phones? What you mean by "I've forgotten my vault password" is your Master Password on your iPhone, being different from that on your iPad, and this is the one that you've forgotten?

If this is what you mean then, do you have any information on your iPhone that you're afraid to lose or is all your data on the iPad as well? If you have all your data backed up on your iPad, then you can delete the 1Password from your iPhone and simply install it again. When you open it for the first time you'll be able to set up syncing right away! Just to be safe I want to be clear, this would erase the data you currently have on your iPhone, so procede with caution!

Please let me know if this works well for you or if we should find a different approach! :chuffed:

My reply and Pilar's reply were sent off at the same time, try my solution, before deleting anything!

Hi @rjh, I've edited my post to Starbuck to add some details to avoid any confusion :chuffed: Thank you for pointing out, my post needed some more details

Thanks to both rjh and Pilar for your help. It turns out that there was currently nothing on my iPhone I needed to save, so I opted to try Pilar's method. Worked perfectly! I was synced up 10 seconds after re-installing.

  • Excellent! Thanks for the update @Starbuck. If there is anything else we can do, please don't hesitate to contact us.

    Ben
