1password locks when typing with Smart Keyboard

I just started using 1Password on a 12.9" iPad Pro with the Smart Keyboard. I was editing a note in 1Password (actively typing) and after about 1 minute (my auto lock timeout) the app locked... It appears to only recognize touch inputs as activity, not typed inputs.

@feat_ford your hunch is correct: at the moment 1Password isn't taking feedback from bluetooth keyboards into account when it's trying to determine when it should automatically lock. I've made a note of this in our internal tracker and hope we'll have a fix soon. In the meantime, it might make sense to disable auto-lock if you're going to be editing long notes, or writing them in another app then pasting them into 1Password. Not the ideal solution, certainly, but it should at least make sure you don't encounter this frustration too often :)

@JasonDeFuria and @nmott the Smart Keyboard is not Bluetooth - it uses the smart connector on the iPad Pro. I guess you could say it is a wired keyboard in that respect- if the iPad is on and the keyboard is in position, the keyboard is powered on. Thanks for putting it in your tracker, @nmott, I look forward to an update.

@feat_ford ah, thanks for the clarification. My desire to buy an iPad Pro was recently overruled by my bank account -- something something "all this money is for bills, dunderhead" -- so I forgot that it uses a smart connector instead of relying on bluetooth. Either way, we should be able to address this at some point, but I can't make any promises about when a fix might make its way to our customers.

Cool, thanks. (Yeah, it's pretty sweet. There are still a few things that feel a little "young" about it... For instance, some of the way white space works in some of the stock apps like messages and Mail just seems not quite baked yet... That said, overall I really like it.)

I am running into this issue (keyboard input does not count as input, resulting in 1Password for iOS timing out sooner than expected) as well. I use a USB keyboard via a Lighting to USB 3 adapter and tend to work heavily in the 1Password browser as it saves time for entering passwords when compared to Safari and needing to use the 1Password extension.

    Hi @linetrace,

I’m sorry to hear that this issue is affecting you as well. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on our progress here at this time, but I will certainly mention to our developers that you would be excited to see a fix here as soon as possible.
