When using contents of notes with copy/paste, cursor is not visible

This is a minor annoyance. I frequently want to copy something from a note. When I position the cursor, you cannot see the cursor, so when you start to copy, you have to monkey around to get the exact text. The cursor is there, and you can move it in the normal way to highlight text and copy it--you just cannot see the cursor.

There is a simple workaround: click "Edit" and then when you position the cursor, it appears as the blinking bar between characters. So not a big deal; just cannot tell you how many times I have been annoyed by this minor annoyance. I literally only thought today of the "edit" workaround, after having done it "blind" for years.

    Hi @jasimon9,

Thanks for writing in about this! Just to make sure I understand what you mean: You open the main 1Password app and find an item with text in the 'notes' field. If you use your mouse or trackpad to click somewhere in the middle of that text, you expect to see a blinking cursor appear in that spot, but it doesn't. However, if you click the Edit button and then click somewhere in that text, the blinking cursor appears. Is that correct, or am I missing a step in there?

If that's an accurate summary of what you're doing, that's actually correct behavior, because the blinking cursor is something that normally only appears in editable text - it indicates the exact spot where an edit will take place. Similarly, you won't see a cursor if you click somewhere in the middle of my message, but while replying to this discussion in the "Leave a Comment" field, you'll see a cursor when you click somewhere in the text you're typing.

Of course, I might be misunderstanding what you meant, and if so, please let us know. Cheers! :)

You are exactly correct. And it is true that in non-editable text, you don't see a cursor. So perhaps my minor issue should not even be considered.

Thanks for confirming that I understood what you meant! The way the blinking cursor works is usually pretty standard across the apps on a Mac, and my guess is that we don't have much control over that, as it's a function of the operating system. But if you have more questions or need more help with 1Password, please don't hesitate to let us know! :)
