Emails are extremely slow

I'm trying to setup new users and it's taking 30minutes to several hours for the invitation emails to be sent. Is this a known issue and is there an ETA for resolution?

    Thanks for taking the time to contact us. I'm sorry that you are having some trouble.

    I tested just now and the invitation email came through so fast, I didn't even have time to switch to the Mail app before it arrived. That's with a custom Google Apps domain (backed by Gmail), though. Perhaps there is a slowdown on the end of your incoming mail server…? Do you have a Gmail account you can send a test invitation to? That could help determine if it's your mail server or not.
