Multiple OS's on my computer. Updates fail because more than 1 instance of 1Password

I have more than version of MacOS on my computer. Each is in it's own partition. Only one can be run at a time. The updates to 1Password fail because it detects the multiple instances.

How can I resolve this. I don't want to unmount the other internal partitions as there is some shared data on one of them.

1Password Version: 6.2.1

OS Version: Mavericks + ElCapitan

  • Hi @mikedurkin ,

If you always have both partitions mounted, then you don't need 1Password to be on each copy. Remove one of the copies and replace it with an alias to the other copy. Then you can run the same copy no matter which partition you are booted from.

@mikedurkin: And just to be clear, the update doesn't fail. 1Password just informs you of the situation, and then you choose to ignore it if you like:

Can't use alias. 1Pw6 not compatible with Mavericks. I will use the update anyway option. Thanks all.

  • Update Anyway is the best option in that case. Thanks for the suggestion, brenty!

If you have any problems with it, please let us know.
