I have purchased a mac version of version 4 and paid to upgrade to version 5. However, when I am now wanting to sync to iPhone, I only see monthly what happened?

    Hi @laird1111,

I’m so sorry for the confusion here! Let’s see if I can help clear it up.

I’ve done a quick search of our back office records and I can see that you are up-to-date on your Mac license (registered to the email address that you have in your forum profile.)

Now, 1Password for iOS is a separate app and not included in this license. However, it is a free download from the iOS App Store. (There are some Pro features available for a one-time In-App Purchase, but we don’t need to worry about that right now.)

When you open 1Password for the first time on your iOS device, you will be given the option to sign in to your 1Password account, or use 1Password without an account. If you have a license for 1Password for Mac, it’s likely that you are using 1Password without an account. Once you select that option, you’ll be able to point 1Password for iOS at your existing data, whether it is in Dropbox or iCloud.

Does this help? If I’m misunderstanding and you do have a 1Password account, please let me know and we’ll provide some steps to get you set up. :)

Thank you Megan. Going back to your site I am still confused. I find I had version 5 and I should update to 6. Going to your site to find out if there is a charge for the upgrade (many apps do charge for a major upgrade - not a big deal but I thought I should know), I can find no reference at all to purchasing the app at all or upgrading; only lease arrangements are shown. What am I missing?

    Hi @laird1111,

Well, the good news is that the upgrade from 1Password 5 to 1Password 6 is free, so there’s no charge to ensure that you’re on the latest and greatest version of 1Password. To upgrade, all you need to do is open 1Password, click the 1Password menu and select ‘Check for Updates’. This will give you the latest version that is compatible with your operating system.

I can find no reference at all to purchasing the app at all or upgrading

We’ve been doing a lot of tweaking to our pricing page as we try to determine the best way to integrate the new 1Password accounts into our line of products. Initially we showed the account options alongside the license pricing, but we found that a lot of users were confused about what they actually needed. For now, the link to purchase a license is in the FAQ section, under Is it possible to purchase a license instead of subscribing?. If you’re an existing user looking to upgrade, you can do so on our upgrade page. (Again, you don’t have to worry about this now, as your license is all up to date!)
