Moved to account based, app is still asking for old password / Deleting primary vault

I moved all my phones and computers to the account based subscription and have 2 questions:

  • Why is the IOS and Android app still only accepting my old password and not the new master password when starting the app? Entering the new master password results in error. This works just fine on PC and Mac.
  • How can I delete the old primary vault in the apps? This works fine on PC and Mac by unselecting allowing creation of vaults ouside of 1Password account but this option is not available in IOS and Android.

Thanks!
griffith

    Hi @griffith_500,

How can I delete the old primary vault in the apps?

    1Password for iOS

To remove the primary vault from 1Password for iOS, you’ll need to delete the app and start fresh. Just make sure that all of your data is in your 1Password account and no data is stored in your local vaults on your iPhone before you do this.

When you open 1Password for iOS after reinstalling, you will have the option to sign in with your 1Password account. From now on, the iOS app will unlock the the Master Password of your account.

    1Password for Android

At this time it is not possible to remove the primary vault from the Android app. Our team is working on this, and we’ll have it available just as soon as we can!

Why is the IOS and Android app still only accepting my old password and not the new master password when starting the app?

The Master Password for your primary vault is being requested because your local vaults are still on the app, and they were added before the account, so this Master Password takes priority. Once you reset iOS (as I instructed above), you’ll be able to unlock 1Password for iOS with the Master Password that you use for your 1Password account. For the time being, you’ll need to continue to unlock 1Password for Android with the ‘old’ Master Password, or you could change the Master Password for the primary vault to match the Master Password that you’re using for your 1Password account.

I hope this helps, but if you have any further questions, we’re here for you!

    Hi Megan

Thanks for the answer, your proposed solution works fine on IOS, will now wait for the same on Android.

    Cheers

    Hi @griffith_500,

I’m glad my answer helped! I’ll let the Android team know you’re excited to see the 1Password accounts-only mode there as well. :)
