Moving from iPhone 6s Plus to Samsung Galaxy Note 7
I've been using this app for several years and it's been great. I'm about move from an iPhone to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. I do see you have the app in google play, so I thought no big deal. However, I realized that I actually don't have an account with 1Password, I've been syncing my stored passwords data though iCloud. How can I move this data be moved? I don't use this for my Mac, I'm only interested in using this on my new phone I'll be getting in 2 weeks. Please advise the best way to move data to either a new account with 1Password or just be able to retrieve the info to set up something new. I currently don't pay any monthly fees for this service and I'd really like to keep it that way. Please advise.

Easiest way would probably be to change from iCloud sync (which, of course, will not work on the Samsung) to Dropbox on the iPhone, and then use Dropbox on the Samsung to pull the data in.
I think (I don't use Android) that there may be a problem with the wording when you install 1PW on the Samsung. You may be offered two options, one of which is to use with an account, the other is to continue without an account. The word "account" only applies to the subscription model, the one-time purchase is not referred to an account, so you want to choose "continue without account".

Hi @jeffrj4au,
Danco is right, switching from iCloud to Dropbox sync will ensure that your 1Password data is in a place that 1Password for Android can see it.
Please have a look at our User Guide for 1Password for Android, in particular the Existing User part of the set-up guide for instructions on how to point 1Password for Android at your existing data in Dropbox.
I hope this gets you all sorted out, but if you have any further questions, we’re here to help! :)

Since I'm currently using iCloud without an account, how do I transfer the data to Dropbox? I may be wrong but I would think I need to transfer this data to Dropbox first before choosing the Dropbox login opinion.

Hi @jeffrj4au,
Here’s how to change the service you’re using to sync your data:
- Tap Settings, Sync, then the name of your vault.
- From your sync details screen, tap Sync Service, then tap Disable sync.
- Follow the directions here to set up Dropbox sync.

Make sure you get 1PW working now that you switched to Android

Hi @justme12,
Thanks for sharing this article. It's great to see that you're thinking carefully about the security of your mobile devices. The article mentions some common sense protections for Android users to keep in mind:
- Download and install the latest Android updates as soon as they become available. These include important security updates that help keep your device and data protected.
- Understand the risks of rooting your device – either intentionally or as a result of an attack.
- Examine carefully any app installation request before accepting it to make sure it's legitimate.
- Avoid side-loading Android apps (.APK files) or downloading apps from third-party sources. Instead, practice good app hygiene by downloading apps only from Google Play.
- Read permission requests carefully when installing any apps. Be wary of apps that ask for permissions that seem unusual or unnecessary or that use large amounts of data or battery life.
- Use known, trusted Wi-Fi networks or while traveling use only those that you can verify are provided by a trustworthy source.
- End users and enterprises should consider using mobile security solutions designed to detect suspicious behavior on a device, including malware that could be obfuscated within installed apps.
Having a password manager protecting your data on your system is a great step forward in your security, and practicing these habits to improve your overall computer and mobile hygiene can help you avoid unfortunate situations. :)
