How to add QR codes to 1Password if I enabled 2-factor authentication on a sit before purchasing 1P?

Before buying 1P I enabled 2-factor authentication on several sites, e.g. Mailchimp.com, and am now using Google Authenticator.

I'd like to add 2F credentials on those sites to 1P.

But I also want to retain the ability to generate 2F codes with Google Authenticator.

What's the workflow here?

  • Hi @marekkowalczyk,

Thanks for writing in with your question. As most apps tend to seed their ability to generate One Time Password (2FA) codes using a QR Code you'd likely need to have saved off that image when you setup 2FA on those sites. Some sites might still give you access to those QR codes but in all likelihood you'd probably need to turn 2FA off and back on again in order to get that QR code image again; then you would simply scan it in all the apps you're interested in having those codes generated in(1Password, Google Authenticator et al).

    Rudy
