Syncing using Syncplicity (either public or private)

I'd like to sync additional vaults between a Windows PC and my iOS device using Syncplicity.
There was mention of it in the forums in 2013, when they had no web API. However I think they've added one since then.
My company uses Syncplicity to share files between people and sync between devices, while blocking Dropbox.
The company uses private servers to store the data, so support for accessing a different server other than the public one would be welcome.

1Password Version: 6.4.4
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: iOS 9.2.1
Sync Type: Syncplicity?

  • Hi @rhakim,

Thanks for taking the time to write in.

This is the first time I've heard of Syncplicity. I did a quick search to see if there have been requests for it that I missed, and I only see the one other thread that you referenced from 2013: https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/comment/78123#Comment_78123

I have to be totally honest and say that it is highly unlikely that we'd develop a sync method that has only been mentioned twice in 3+ years. Our current focus is on developing our own 1Password for Teams solution, which is what we recommend for businesses looking to use 1Password.

That said, we may consider alternative 3rd party sync solutions in the future, and I'll certainly add your vote for Syncplicity.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Here's another vote for Syncplicity support. My company also blocks Dropbox and uses Syncplicity instead. I managed to get a computer with Dropbox and Syncplicity to sync the keychain between my company PC/Mac with Syncplicity and my iPhone and iPad with Dropbox, but that avenue has been closed down recently (for obvious reasons).

This is why I get 1Password has the subscription now. Everyone wants this or that for syncing, and it's not easy at all to support multiple syncing tools out there. Just working with the programmer alone at wor, I get it. People come to him "we need this, we need that" and it's not easy to do.

I see why companies block Dropbox, but who says they won't block this and others in the future?

More and more of these pop up, and makes me happier that I just use the subscription now.

    @Prime,

I do see your point but as Microsoft Office with subscription comes with 1TB of storage, anything's possible I suppose but I doubt companies are going to block OneDrive? Dropbox is so far universal for 1Password users. Apple has iCloud and Microsoft has OneDrive. Google has G Drive but I am not on Android so I cannot say how it works with 1Password.

@wkleem you don't have to get Onedrive with an enterprise subscription. We have Office 360 subscription at work and our subscription doesn't include OneDrive. A lot of companies (a few we work for) will not allow ANY cloud services at all.

  • Thanks for the continued feedback on this, folks. At this time we're not considering implementing sync via 3rd party services beyond iCloud and Dropbox. Our focus is on our 1Password.com service, and will be for the foreseeable future. That said we definitely appreciate you taking the time to share your desires for 1Password with us, and we'll continue to take them into consideration as we move forward.

Does the existence of "Files" in iOS 11 change this at all? (I'm stuck with Syncplicity at work as well, with iCloud, DropBox, and I think also OneDrive blocked.) Similarly, while I could connect with the web service, it would definitely be a violation of company policy to do so...

    It does not.

Similarly, while I could connect with the web service, it would definitely be a violation of company policy to do so...

If you're interested we'd be happy to put our security team in touch with your IT department (or other decision maker). Preventing people from using a password manager seems like a poorly thought out policy.
