Does 1Password support copy and paste when creating and attaching files when creating?

I am using 1Password version 6.4.4 and iOs 10.0.1 (14a403) I have noticed when I create a new item I would like cut and paste the information from a email or a or document into the field. There are times when the information is not just one word or one line but multiple lines. I could not do copy and paste to reduce human error. Will this feature be added? Can it be done? Did I do something incorrectly? Please advise. This also begs the question can I attach PDF and other files to or part of the item? Thanks. These features if not present, please add them Thanks.

  • Hi @BDROYE,

Thanks for taking the time to write in with this question. I apologize for the delay in getting back to you.

Have you verified that the information you want to paste has actually made it onto the clipboard? I've found in some cases that iOS makes it appear the text has been copied but in reality the clipboard is empty.

This also begs the question can I attach PDF and other files to or part of the item?

At the moment, no. We are working on adding Document support for 1Password.com vaults to iOS. This functionality for adding photos as Documents is currently in beta. Further Document support (for other file types / sources) will likely come in the future. Unfortunately attachments for standalone vaults turned out to be trickier, and as such will be further down the road if at all.

    Thanks for the feedback!

A couple of comments and an aside. I want to be clear what I was trying to do; I wanted to add the the licence key for a piece of software. The publisher sends it as a PDF file; i must copy and paste from the second line to the next to last line inclusive and paste that into the license are for the product after I have installed. The cut and paste may have never worked in iOS for my iPhone or tablet. It does on the laptop regardless if it is iOS or Windows. What get copied and saved looks and is formatted like this:

    You get the idea.

So iOS may not or can do the copy job.

Second point is that what I would like with attachment is for it to work the following way: I have an appliance, i have an ID/PW for the manufacturer site. I would like to be able to attach a picture of the appliance for example..

My understanding of and Agilebits' explanation of Vaults eludes me. I see 1Password as a big bank with many vaults, say one for my wife one for business items. I have yet to crate a second vault. with the software.

    Thanks.

I suspect it cannot, unless you're using a 3rd party app to view the PDF and copy text from it.

Yes, understood. :) I think we'd all like that. It is on the radar but this far has proven to be a difficult feature to implement for standalone vaults.

While multiple vaults is a very cool feature it isn't necessary that you use it. But yes, if you wanted to share a secondary vault with your wife, for example, you could certainly do that.

    Thanks!
