    Hi @ramenbox,

I'm sorry you're unable to launch the 1Password app after upgrading to Sierra! But don't worry, we'll help you get things working again.

According to the log/report you included, it looks like you're using 1Password version 4.1, which is a few years old at this point, so that might be the problem. The latest is currently version 6.3.3, which fully supports Sierra. 1Password 6 is a free upgrade from 1Password 4, so you just need to install the latest update. It looks like you're using the Mac App Store version of 1Password, so just open the Mac App Store, make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you originally used to purchase 1Password for Mac, and go to the Updates section. Look for an update for 1Password there, and install it.

Does that help? Please let us know how it goes, and if it's still a problem, we'll continue from there. Thanks!

    Hi Drew,

Thanks for the prompt reply. Appreciate it.

I have tried that but I unfortunately cannot recall which account I bought it with (I have several... mistake #1) so it doesn't seem like this method would work.

I am considering buying the membership, but before I do that, would my existing data be erased? Is it a seamless sync?

    Thanks!

    You're very welcome, @ramenbox!

I have tried that but I unfortunately cannot recall which account I bought it with (I have several... mistake #1) so it doesn't seem like this method would work.

If you're not able to install the update through the Mac App Store, you can switch to the AgileBits Store version and use that instead. It's easy to switch, and we explain how to do it here: How to switch to the version of 1Password from the AgileBits website (You'll need to skip Step 1 of course, but that shouldn't be a problem - just continue with Step 2.)

The first time you open the AgileBits Store version, it should find your existing data from the Mac App Store version and give you the option to use that.

Normally, the AgileBits Store version will detect that you have the Mac App Store version and automatically activate itself. But if for some reason it doesn't detect the old Mac App Store version (i.e. the AgileBits Store version stays in trial mode and asks for a license file), let us know, as we'll need to create a license for you.

Alternately, if you decide to sign up for a 1Password account, you won't need to worry about that because signing into you account from the 1Password for Mac app will also activate it. And that makes a nice segue to your next question. ;)

I am considering buying the membership, but before I do that, would my existing data be erased? Is it a seamless sync?

Don't worry, you're data won't be erased! After signing up, you'll need to sign into your account in the 1Password app, then move your data from the old vault(s) to your new account vault(s). That's also very easy, and you can find the exact steps here: Move your existing 1Password data to a 1Password account

Once you've moved your data to your new 1Password account, it will seamlessly sync to your devices through our server. All you need to do is sign into your account from the 1Password app on each device.

I hope that helps, but please let us know if you have more questions about any of that! :)
