Code not matching in Firefox
Hey,
tried to update the Firefox-Browser plugin. However unfortunately the code shown is not matching, I get 123456 in Firefox and a random number for 1password...
I tried disabling the virus protection, restarting,... basically everything I could think about.
Firefox is newest version, 1password newest,...
Any idea what else I can do?
(I'd attach a report, but I dont know how, sorry)
Thanks in advance!
Yours,
Robert

Hi, @malfunction. Sorry for the trouble you're having. We've seen a few reports of this. The 123456 code is the default value, so there's nothing to worry about, but we do need to figure out what is happening here. Since you're using Firefox, could you look in the Browser Console and also the Web Console under the Developer menu and let us know if there are any error messages in either of them? Errors should be red. Warnings (in yellow) could also be interesting as well, but mostly we're looking to see what errors might be happening.
Thanks!

Hey, thanks for the reply!
Web console doesnt display anything at all.
I've attached a screenshot of the Browser console.
I'm sorry that it's in german, but I guess it shouldn't make much difference. The red exclamation mark part says:something like "across different sources (sorry I can't find a translation)" (Cross-Origin) request blocked: The same-source-rule denies reading of the external source at https://googleads.... (Reason: CORS-request failed).
The yellow x (red highlighted) reads:
Firefox can't establish a connection to server (ws://127.0...)
The connection to ws://127.... was interrupted while loading the page.I hope that helps and we can get this to work! I'm really really fond of 1password for many years already and would hate if it's not working!
Thanks for your help.Edit: I just tried installing the 1password extension in Chrome. It works fine, the code matches. So the problem seems to be limited to Firefox. And no, I'm not going to try Internet Explorer as well ;)

Hi @malfunction,
Can you try something for us please.
Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles
This link will show you how you can create a new Firefox profile. What I'm wondering is do you see the same issue in a brand new profile with no other extensions installed but ours? By creating a new profile you can easily delete it afterwards and return to your real profile.
If the new profile works but the old one doesn't then it might be worth trying a refresh of your real profile and this link, Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings will show you how without loss of your bookmarks. Any other extensions you have installed will be lost along with the 1Password Firefox Extension so it would be worth making a note of which you want to add back.
If it happens in a brand new Firefox profile too that also tells us something. What anti-virus (and any other security software) do you use?

Hey, thanks again for the reply.
I had to wait till today, cause it's my work computer that's giving me problems. My home pc I could update without problems - I didn't get the code matching thing, though!
Now, I just created a new profile as you said. However, the problem still exists.
Ok, so it seems to be some other problem.
Active on the computer is Symantec Endpoint Protection. I had tried deactivating it before installing already, didn't do anything.
Our network is also protected by some hardware firewall, however unfortunately I do not know what kind of, and I couldn't/wouldn't disable it just for the browser extension. Any more ideas? Thanks a lot.

@malfunction It does sound like 1Password isn't able to connect to 1Password mini, but it doesn't indicate to me why it's showing the authorization screen at all. We should only show the screen if 1Password has been told to by 1Password mini, but if you don't have any connection to 1Password mini, how could it get such a message? (You can see the conundrum here…)
Firewalls and proxies are the main cause of 1Password connectivity issues. I'm wondering if you can check with your IT staff and ask them to make sure 1Password's connection to localhost is whitelisted. Here's the information about common software packages and generic information on proxies and firewalls for Mac and Windows.
Let us know what you find out.

Hey guys, thanks for the help, I finally got it figured out.
It was a problem with firefox, somehow I was still running FF on version 43, yet it gave me a "no new updates" message... Somehow found out that FF is supposed to be version 49 already, so I did a manual update and now it's running perfectly fine!
So, it was never your fault at all ;)
Thanks again and keep up the good work, I wouldn't know what to do without 1password...

Hi @malfunction,
It's because most of us wouldn't know what to do without 1Password that can make it so panicky if something stops working. We do get it, anything that would seem to block something we rely on so heavily will be stressful.
It's interesting that updating Firefox from an older version sorted it out. I confess all my own testing is only ever on the latest version as the browsers all insist on automatically updating. Somebody did report that their anti-virus seemed to stop Firefox updating but I don't believe they said Symantec. Hopefully after the kick in the pants Firefox keeps itself updated now
If you run into any other issues at all please do let us know.

This fixed the problem for me, too! Thanks for the tip!

Odd that so many folks are running into this issue with Firefox failing to update, but I'm glad you were able to get it sorted out. Have a great weekend! :)

Same here. Had to update Firefox manually and now the the 1Passwd extension works.

This is a problem for me. I have to use Firefox 42.0 for work. Before the update, I was totally fine, and now it seems that my version of Firefox is not compatible with 1Password.
I'm not asking for a fix, but 1Password now only supports the latest versions of Firefox.

My pleasure—thanks!
