1Password Not Recognising Login Forms Anymore

Hello there,

1Password mini and browser extension not filling login forms anymore. It does not even recognise the webpages anymore.
I think this coincided with upgrade of OSX to the Sierra version some two weeks ago.

I have followed the instructions on support site, even went as far as uninstalling main 1Password, the mini app and the safari browser extensions. Fresh downloads and installs. Even the browser extension unable to link to the main app. Fails to recognise the main app even when I have the main app opened.

1Password Version: 6.3.3
Extension Version: 4.6.1
OS Version: OSX 10.12
Sync Type: iCloud

    Hi @lurdsammie,

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble filling web forms with 1Password after upgrading to Sierra on your Mac! I hope you don't mind, but I've moved your message to our "Saving and Filling in Browsers" forum.

In order to help figure out what's going on and get things working again, we'll just need to know a bit more about the problem:

    • Can you please elaborate on what you mean by "It does not even recognise the webpages anymore"?
    • What are the exact steps you normally take to have 1Password fill sign-in forms on websites?
    • What happens if you click on the URL field of a Login item in the main 1Password app?
    • What happens if you open a website by choosing a Login item from the 1Password extension in Safari?
    • What happens if you go to a website first, and then choose the matching Login item from the 1Password extension?
    • When using the extension, do you click the 1Password icon in Safari's toolbar, or do you use the ⌘\ keyboard shortcut?
    • Do you receive any error messages when you try to use the extension? If so, what do they say?
    • Does it make any difference if you reboot your Mac and try again?

    Thanks in advance! :)

Until now once I go to any website that requires a login, I just go to the browser and the website is listed right at the top to provide easy login. This is not happening anymore.

What are the exact steps you normally take to have 1Password fill sign-in forms on websites?

I usually go to the website I need and then when the login form loads, I go to the browser extension, and as stated previously, that page would usually be recognised and listed right at the top and I just click to login.

What happens if you click on the URL field of a Login item in the main 1Password app?

The website opens but the username and passwords fields don't get populated. Remains blank.

The website opens but the username and passwords fields don't get populated. Remains blank.

What happens if you go to a website first, and then choose the matching Login item from the 1Password extension?

It opens the page in a new Tab but the username and password fields remain blank.

When using the extension, do you click the 1Password icon in Safari's toolbar, or do you use the ⌘\ keyboard shortcut?

I click the icon in the Mac system tray at the top. I don't usually click the mini app. I have never used the keyboard shortcuts. Prefer point and click.

Do you receive any error messages when you try to use the extension? If so, what do they say?
No error messages whatsoever. The website opens and thats it.

That said, clicking the mini app in the browser extension comes up with the error message as seen in the attachment.

Does it make any difference if you reboot your Mac and try again?

    Simply put, No.

    Hello @lurdsammie,

There are a staggering range of causes that result in the extension not being able to connect to 1Password and so like you to create a Diagnostic Report please. This guide will assist.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums

The email address you will want to use is support+forum@agilebits.com.

When sending the diagnostic report to the address above it would help immensely if you could include a link to this thread and your forum handle so we can connect the two.

Once you've sent the report a post here with the ticket ID will help us to keep an eye out for it. With access to the report we should be able to better assist you

In response to the last email from you, I have uninstalled Qustodio Parental Control software and that indeed has resolved the problem.
But of course I now need to find an alternative solution to keep the kids safe online. I have also added my voice to the complaints to Qustodio and hope they will one day wake up to solve the problem.

    Thanks

Thanks for the update, @lurdsammie. I'm glad things are working for you now, but I certainly understand you're not happy about having to choose. Hopefully, one day you won't have to. :)
