Problems logging into some XenForo sites

I am having problems filling in login details on some forums that use XenForo software, specifically those that use the default XenForo theme.

If you look at the XenForo website https://xenforo.com/community/ itself, the login is a dropdown from the top of the site. On the Mac, if I use Cmd + \, it fills in the username. It does not fill in the password, instead it changes the selected radio button to "No, create an account now." (the default is "Yes, my password is:").

Interestingly, if you do not activate the Login or Sign up dropdown (ie you don't make the login fields visible, if you use Cmd + \ and then activate the Login or Sign up dropdown, it has filled in both the username and password fields (though it hasn't automatically logged you in).

When I try to log in on the site from my Android devices, the username is filled in but not the password. In this case, the selected radio button isn't changed ("Yes, my password is:" remains selected). Interestingly if you select the password field rather than the user name field before using the 1Password login, it does fill in both the username and password fields (though it doesn't check the Stay logged in checkbox).

This is something to do with the default theme. My website is a XenForo forum but it uses a 3rd party theme which has an overlay for the login and I have no problems with this. http://www.seniorgamers.net/

Is this issue something that 1Password can deal with, or would the XenForo default theme need modifying in some way (and if so, how)? I'm sure if the latter is the case, the developers would be interested to know as they recently suggested 1Password in a recent account security post here.

    Greetings @Martok,

So I can reproduce your findings in the latest version of 1Password for Mac (which is at 6.3.3) and the good news is something we've already changed in one of the betas helps here. What I can't say with any degree of certainty is which particular change it was or when a stable version with that improvement will be available. Hopefully it won't be too long, I just have no ETA to report.

    Thanks @littlebobbytables.

It's not really a big issue, I can currently fill in both fields with the workarounds I mentioned. I just thought I'd raise it to see whether it was a 1Password issue or a XenForo one (which they'd very likely fix if it was).

Anyway, glad it's resolved in the Beta, which I can wait for )or not and I'll switch to the Beta to see what goodies are coming!) :-)

    Hi @Martok,

Now in the past I've been quite blasé about suggesting trying out the beta because more often than not there's no harm and you could easily revert. We've had a couple of instances this year though where the beta has made database scheme changes and that means the only way back was either via a backup prior to trying out the beta or exporting each vault and setting everything up from scratch. So nowadays if somebody understands that being on the beta has some risks and are still happy that's great but I do want to make sure it's an informed decision. Don't get me wrong, I don't view the beta as some sort of ticking bomb at all, I use it every day as part of ensuring it works but that's expected of me, your time may be more valuable and you just need 1Password to work

Does this still apply to the new 1Password subscription service? I'm using the Families plan and I would have assumed that using the beta wouldn't have affected the back end (though of course I could be very wrong!) and for my Mac and Android devices I could just uninstall the beta and reinstall the previous final release to sort anything out.

    Hi @Martok,

Good point, one I forgot to factor in. Use of a beta won't affect the data stored on our server so a hosted account would make it easier. In that instance you would need to wipe the current local data and beta copy of 1Password, download the stable and sign in. It would take care of the rest. So still not as seamless as dropping the stable over the beta like it used to be for ages but better than the worst case scenario that I painted.

    Thank you for raising that.

    Thanks for confirming that. :)

Uninstalling and reinstalling really isn't a biggie so I may dip my toes into the Beta pool sometime (especially when they fix the Android issue I reported of always having to log into 1Password when in Chrome as filling keyboard is ignoring the Lock on Exit settings in the main app, grr).

If you do decide to try out the beta that's great, we appreciate anybody testing the beta and you understand the one clear gotcha that I'm aware meaning you would be doing so aware of the risks (that makes it sound a lot worse than it is). I hope we can address the bug you reported in 1Password for Android too but that's one platform I have no knowledge on. I really need to get a device so I can get myself up to speed.
