updating password in vault

I am trying out 1Password for Teams and am still trying to understand all the features.
One thing I am seeing is that if I change a password for a website, 1password creates a second entry in the vault rather than asking me if I want to update the vault entry.
How is this supposed to work?

  • Hi @lisaperlie! Good question. 1Password is supposed to ask you to update the existing password with the new one. I see you're using 1Password 6 for Windows, and right now it doesn't support updating existing passwords. To save a password there, I'd recommend:

    1. Open the website and navigate to the change password page.
    2. Enter your current password.
    3. Open 1Password 6 for Windows and unlock it.
    4. Select the password you'd like to change, and click Edit.
    5. Click the password generator icon beside the •••• in the password field. It's three lines of sliders.
    6. Generate a password you like, then click Save.
    7. Click Copy beside the password, then paste it into the new password fields in your browser and change the password.

We're hoping to have a streamlined process for this soon. I hope this helps in the meantime! :)
