Can't transfer data to new Mac. Going in circles trying to follow instructions. Massively confused by terminology. What type of account do I already have? I think I have a "family licence", whatever that means. I have a "license key" number. I really need one-on-one help. Thank you, Stephen Blum

You are on version 6 (sorry, I deleted your two other almost identical posts and I think one of them contained this and some other useful information). You should have a licence FILE, not a licence KEY.

Family licences are an old licence model, allowing other members of your family to use 1PW. Current stand-alone licences are for one person only.

You don't actually have an ACCOUNT (I think the AgileBits terminology is a bit confusing here), as accounts are part of the new subscription model.

Did you get 1PW direct from AgileBits or from the Mac App Store? It helps to know that, as the data is stored in different places depending on which you have.

And did you do any syncing (Dropbox or iCloud) previously? Do you plan just to use the new Mac, or will you be using both?

We (experienced users such as myself, and also AgileBits staff) will get you going, but the answers to these will help. I am very sorry if I deleted information that was in your duplicate posts.

    Hi @sib1942,

I'm sorry for the trouble there! As @danco said, it looks like you have a license, rather than one of our newer 1Password.com accounts. We can definitely help out one-on-one. I'd like to first ask you to create a Diagnostics Report from your Mac:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)

Attach the Diagnostics Report to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can track down the report and ensure that this issue is dealt with quickly. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks very much!
